Citroen India Prices The Turbocharged C3

Earlier this month, Citroen India revealed the prices of the enhanced C3 lineup. However, there was no word on turbocharged variants. That void has now been filled. The upgraded turbocharged engine, which now complies with the stricter BS6-II emission standards, is available in Feel and Shine derivatives. Here’s the price list:

• 1.2 Turbo-Petrol Feel Dual-Tone with Vibe Pack: INR 8.43 Lakh

• 1.2 Turbo-Petrol Shine Dual-Tone: INR 8.80 Lakh

• 1.2 Turbo-Petrol Shine Dual-Tone with Vibe Pack: INR 8.92 Lakh

Simple math reveals that all turbocharged C3 variants cost INR 1.05 lakh more than their respective non-turbo derivatives. For the premium, buyers will get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 109hp/190Nm. That’s 29hp/75Nm extra over the non-turbocharged motor. The stronger powerplant comes coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, there’s no automatic gearbox available with the C3. As far as mileage is concerned, the C3 can return up to 19.3kmpl.

The Citroen C3 will likely garner more attention with the recently introduced Shine trim level. Why? Because that has roped in features absent previously. The list includes 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a rear-view camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, auto engine start/stop, front fog lamps, a rear wiper with washer and connected-car tech with 35 features via the My Citroen Connect application.

Buyers can also use Citroen’s customisation platform to create their own C3. So, besides the Vibe Pack, which introduces a few design enhancements, they could go à la carte. Also, multiple monotone and dual-tone finishes are available for the exterior and two colour themes for the interior.

The Citroen C3 is better equipped to take the game to its competitors. It rivals the Tata Punch and a few Maruti Suzuki models in the same price bracket. Soon, Hyundai will join the party with the Exter.
