After showing intent in December last year, Taiwan’s China Airlines has placed a firm order for 10 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The largest member of the A350 Family will help the airline operate long-haul routes to North America and Europe, while providing operational commonality with the carrier’s existing fleet of A350-900 widebodies.
Airbus claims the A350 offers the longest range of any commercial aircraft currently in production worldwide. Powered by two Rolls-Royce engines, the widebody can cover up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000) nonstop. At the same time, the aircraft consumes 25 per cent less fuel and offers a similar reduction in harmful carbon emissions compared to the previous generation aircraft. Like all other Airbus aircraft, the A350 is capable of flying with up to 50 per cent SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).
China Airlines of Taiwan operates a fleet of various Airbus jets, including 15 A350-900s, which serve long-haul routes to the USA and Europe. The airline also operates 15 A321neo and 16 A330 aircraft.
