Belgium’s Brussels Airlines has decided to purchase five more brand-new Airbus A320neo aircraft. The announcement comes after the Board of Directors gave a go-ahead. Deliveries for the said aircraft, which promise up to 20 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions and 50 per cent lower noise levels compared to previous models, are likely to commence from 2027 onwards.
Brussels Airlines presently operates a fleet of five A320neo jets. As announced by the airline in December of last year, three additional examples are expected to join its fleet by summer 2026. The next aircraft delivery is scheduled for November 2025.
Simple math reveals that by the time the newest A320neo order is fulfilled, Brussels Airlines would have more than doubled its fleet of the aircraft type. In plain numbers, it would have thirteen A320neo jets by then, replacing the older models. Brussels Airlines uses the A320neo aircraft for its short- and medium-haul routes.
It isn’t the A320neo that Brussels Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, is investing in. The Star Alliance member is also investing in expanding its long-haul fleet to 13 Airbus A330 jets. Other developments on the horizon include the introduction of two new cabins from 2027 and the renovation of its lounge at Brussels Airport.
