British Airways Announces First-Ever Service To Tromsø

The Norwegian city will become the airline’s northernmost destination globally.

UK’s flag carrier, British Airways (BA), has confirmed the addition of Tromsø, Norway, to its ever-expanding network. From December 1, 2024, the airline will, for the first time, operate a service from London Heathrow Airport to Tromsø Airport. Once this route is active, it will become BA’s northernmost destination globally. This service will be offered twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, on an Airbus A320neo. Since Tromsø is primarily a winter wonderland, BA will fly on the above route until March 27, 2025.

On Thursdays, the outbound flight – BA612 – will depart from London at 08:25 and land in Tromsø at 13:00. The return leg – BA 613 – leaves Tromsø at 14:00 and arrives at Heathrow at 16:45. On Sundays, the outbound service will leave and arrive at 08:15 and 12:50, respectively. The return flight is scheduled to depart Tromsø at 13:40 and land in London at 16:25. All times mentioned are local.

Tromsø is among the best places in the world to witness the glorious natural phenomenon – aurora borealis. In winter, temperatures range between zero and negative five degrees Celcius. The abundant snowfall paves the path for various winter activities, including mountaineering, whale watching and skiing. The Norwegian city also attracts tourists who enjoy exploring Christmas markets.

BA confirms that tickets for the London- Tromsø route are available to book now. While return fares start at GBP 153, the carrier’s holiday packages can be an excellent way to explore and experience Tromsø.
