Fleet Expansion to Support Global Network
Cathay Pacific has confirmed an order for 14 additional Boeing 777-9 passenger aircraft. This increases its total order to 35, making it the largest operator of the 777-9 in the Asia-Pacific region. The new aircraft will support the airline in expanding its international network and enhancing service on long-haul routes.
Modern Aircraft for Better Efficiency
The Boeing 777-9 provides up to 20 per cent lower fuel consumption and emissions compared to older aircraft. It also generates 40 per cent less noise. With a range of 7,295 nautical miles (13,510 kilometres), the aircraft can fly non-stop from Hong Kong, the home hub of Cathay Pacific, to major cities worldwide. This supports both passenger travel and cargo operations.
A Trusted Partnership
Cathay Pacific has operated Boeing 777 family aircraft for over 30 years. This new order demonstrates the airline’s ongoing confidence in Boeing and its plan to modernise its fleet with more efficient and advanced aircraft.
Statement from Leadership
Ronald Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Cathay Group, said: “We plan to expand and renew our fleet with the additional 777-9 aircraft, enabling us to continue our rich history of connecting the world with our Hong Kong hub.”
Future Outlook
As global travel continues to recover, Cathay Pacific’s investment in the Boeing 777-9 highlights its focus on reliability, passenger comfort, and environmental performance.
