BMW F 450 RR Unveiled: S 1000 RR-Inspired Supersport With 48 HP

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the F 450 RR supersport with a 420cc twin-cylinder engine, 48 hp, 43 Nm, S 1000 RR-inspired styling and four variants.

What is the BMW F 450 RR?

The BMW F 450 RR is BMW Motorrad’s new entry-level supersport motorcycle, developed as a standalone model within the F 450 family, sharing the same 420cc parallel twin engine as the F 450 R and F 450 GS.

However, it is important to note that BMW rejects the notion that the F 450 RR is simply a fared version of the  F 450 R naked or the F 450 GS ADV. It features a specially designed supersport-focused chassis, track-oriented suspension geometry and aerodynamic appendages.

What engine powers the BMW F 450 RR?

The BMW F 450 RR is powered by a 420 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke parallel-twin engine with two overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The parallel-twin engine produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm, with power sent through a six-speed gearbox and an X-ring chain final drive.

What type of features does the BMW F 450 RR get?

The BMW F 450 RR gets a feature set that combines everyday usability with genuine track-oriented technology. Standard equipment includes:

Safety and rider-assistance features:

  • BMW Motorrad ABS Pro for ABS-assisted braking while cornering.

  • Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) to prevent unintended throttle application during demanding braking.

  • Dynamic Traction Control (DTC).

  • Engine drag-torque control (MSR).

  • Rain, Road and Race riding modes as standard.

  • Dynamic brake light to alert following traffic during deceleration.

  • Reversible shift pattern for track use.

  • Optional Riding Modes Pro with the configurable Race Pro mode, available on M Sport variants.

Convenience and connectivity:

  • 6.5-inch TFT colour display with the Pure Ride Screen.

  • Smartphone connectivity for calls, music and navigation.

  • USB-C charging port in the cockpit area.

  • Heated grips as standard.

  • Full LED lighting, including LED headlamp, indicators and taillight.

  • LED daytime-running-light signature inspired by the S 1000 RR.

  • Two-piece seat with a standard height of 790 mm.

  • Optional Low Seat reducing seat height to 775 mm and Sport Rider’s Seat raising it to 810 mm.

  • 14-litre fuel tank with a claimed range of more than 350 km.

  • Three additional Sport screens and lap-timer function on M Sport variants with Riding Modes Pro.

What chassis and suspension does it use?

The BMW F 450 RR uses a newly developed chassis derived from the F 450 GS, but with tuning specifically tailored for supersport riding. It is built around a tubular steel space frame with the 420 cc parallel twin engine acting as a load-bearing element.

At the front, the F 450 RR uses a 43 mm KYB upside-down telescopic fork. On the Sport variant, it gets an upgraded setup of the same base KYB USD fork, but adds greater adjustability.

At the rear, the wheel is guided by a lightweight aluminium double-sided swingarm,  mounted by a KYB central spring strut which offers spring preload and rebound damping adjustment.

The chassis is completed by lightweight cast-aluminium wheels shod in tubeless tyres measuring 110/70-17 at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear. Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc fixed calliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a floating ByBre single-piston calliper, supported by ABS Pro as standard.

What is the design theme of the BMW F 450 RR?

The design theme of the BMW F 450 RR is unmistakably supersport, with BMW drawing clear inspiration from its flagship S 1000 RR. The F 450 RR follows BMW’s signature RR design language, featuring a nose-down, tail-up stance, signature RR flyline and aerodynamic winglets creating a powerful visual stance.

The BMW F 450 RR features S 1000 RR-inspired fairing and aerodynamic winglets with split front end with LED headlamp in between.

What colours and variants are available for the BMW F 450 RR?

The BMW F 450 RR is available in three colour options, each linked to a specific variant. The Base variant comes in Cosmic Black, the Sport gets Racing Red, while the two top-spec M Sport variants are offered in Snaefell White / M Motorsport.

When will the BMW F 450 RR be available?

The BMW F 450 RR has been unveiled globally, but BMW has not announced a universal on-sale date. The first confirmed availability is for the United States, where the 2027 F 450 RR M Sport is expected to reach dealerships in summer 2027
