Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH Takes to the Track

Unlike its rivals, it shares its DNA with the road-going Aston Martin Valkyrie, the ultimate hypercar.

Aston Martin has embarked on a new chapter in its motorsport history with the first track test of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH, a hypercar designed to compete in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA). This marks the British luxury carmaker’s return to the top tier of endurance racing since its 1959 Le Mans victory.

Developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies and the Heart of Racing team, the Valkyrie AMR-LMH is a unique contender in the Hypercar class. Unlike its rivals, it shares its DNA with the road-going Aston Martin Valkyrie, the ultimate hypercar. The racing version utilizes a modified 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, tuned to meet the demanding requirements of endurance racing.

Aston Martin and The Heart of Racing have established a dedicated team and facilities to oversee the development and testing of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH. The car will undergo rigorous testing throughout the year before its competitive debut in early 2025.

Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Motorsport, expressed satisfaction with the car’s initial performance, highlighting its potential to meet the team’s ambitious targets. Ian James, Team Principal of The Heart of Racing, emphasized the challenges of competing at the highest level of endurance racing but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to succeed.

Aston Martin’s commitment to motorsport extends beyond the Hypercar class. The company will also compete in the GT4 category and the Formula 1 World Championship, solidifying its position as a major player in global motorsport.

With a rich history in endurance racing, including numerous Le Mans victories, Aston Martin aims to reclaim its former glory and establish the Valkyrie AMR-LMH as a formidable contender in the top tier of motorsport.
