Aston Martin Unveils The 1,064hp Valhalla In Production Form

It took five years of additional development before the Valhalla was was ready to hit the streets.

The origin of the “Aston Martin Valhalla” goes back to 2019 when the British manufacturer revealed the test model that bore the initial name AM-RB 003 to enter commercial production shortly after, meaning that the car was expected to be displayed in Aston Martin showrooms spread across the most prestigious parts of the world during 2020 or 2021 at the latest, but this was not the case.

Years passed without us seeing the car except as a display model, revealing Aston Martin’s intention to produce a sports car equipped with a mid-mounted engine to compete with the Ferrari SF90 or Lamborghini Revuelto.

Today, Aston Martin has finally revealed the production car, an absolute beast. With a 1,064-horsepower powertrain consisting of a 4.0-litre V8 that generates 817 horsepower alone and Valkery-inspired exterior lines, the Valhalla will undoubtedly stand out from the competition. In addition to the internal combustion engine, the Valhalla benefits from three electric motors.

One is integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and works primarily as a starter and generator to charge the battery pack. The other two are at the front, turning each wheel for an all-wheel drive experience. The motors can operate independently to direct torque on the racetrack, or you can activate pure electric mode and drive for 13km at speeds of up to 130kmph.

Aston Martin says the Valhalla can accelerate to 100kmph from a standstill in 2.5 seconds and then continue to 350kmph. In most driving conditions, the large rear wing remains low to maintain the car’s minimalist exterior design. Still, it is raised when Race mode is activated and the front wing is extended, maximising downforce. The wing angles are automatically adjusted to suit the driving conditions.

Aston Martin’s Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control system makes all the necessary calculations to adjust the car’s wings to enhance aerodynamics at high speeds or air resistance when braking or cornering. The system also manages the suspension, steering, brakes and torque vectoring, which vary between the four available driving modes.

The interior is somewhat understated compared to other Aston Martin models, with doors opening upwards to reveal large amounts of exposed carbon, a Formula 1-inspired steering wheel, and a dashboard that is a carbon fibre strut that runs the width of the cabin, with two digital displays mounted on it. The floor is raised, and the seats recline to embody the racing feel. But this car is not without its comforts, as it has a sophisticated audio system and Apple CarPlay.
