ArtyA Geneve has introduced the Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium. It is the first time the brand’s tonneau shaped “iconic Curvy case” is presented in grade 5 titanium. It joins the brand’s Curvy Purity lineup of watches which includes cases with black DLC treatment, clear sapphire crystal, and coloured NanoSapphire crystal.
Key Features
Image: Notice the brand’s “Stairway to Heaven” escapement at 6 o’clock, the twin barrels at approximately 2 and 10 o’clock, and the (optional) mirrored caseback. The reflection of the skeletonised movement creates an abundance of visual depth. “A discreet screen that conceals the wrist behind the skeletonised calibre. The semi-reflective caseback — effectively a one-way mirror, opaque from above — subtly reveals the movement within.”
Functions and Operation
Hours and minutes indicated on the off-centred dial.
Small seconds indicated on the smaller dial.
Crown at 12 o’clock for winding and time-setting.
Dial
Open dial showcasing the skeletonised movement, especially the brand’s “Stairway to Heaven” escapement at 6 o’clock, twin barrels, and the two dials for the hours and minutes and small seconds.
Movement
Image: “The bridges supporting the motion works and balance are frosted with cast iron microbeads, then beveled by hand.” Notice the finishing on the grade 5 titanium case. The custom Nubuck leather strap contrasts well with the open dial and case.
Powered by the ArtyA manufacture Purity Curvy Stairway to Heaven movement PUR-HMS2. Manually-wound, it drives the hours, minutes, and seconds.
Diameter: 32.40 mm * 27.80 mm. Thickness: 5.43 mm. Parts: 134. Jewels: 22. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Torque: 730 gr.mm. Power reserve: 72 hours.
Movement features:
Free-sprung balance wheel. “The balance’s inertia is finely tuned using peripheral weights, allowing the hairspring to oscillate with unwavering consistency. This maximizes calibre performance and long-term chronometric stability.”
Twin Barrels that work in parallel. “Fitted with longer, finer mainsprings for smoother, more linear energy delivery — with polished blades to reduce friction. The redesigned barrel drums — sculpted with flowing curves — mirror the prominent arcs of the movement’s bridges. The names of the manufacture and the calibre are engraved — subtle details that elevate the movement’s visual presence.”
Case
Image: Case finishing includes matte finish as a result of full manual polishing, sandblasting, transparent DLC treatment, and a mirror-polished contour along the edge of the case.
Case is made from grade 5 titanium. Diameter: 38.50 mm * 43 mm. Thickness: 12 mm.
Dial side features a sapphire crystal with triple anti-reflective treatment. Open caseback is screwed to the main case. Features engravings. Water resistant up to 50 metres. Watch comes with a custom Nubuck leather strap fitted to an ArtyA pin buckle.
Our Thoughts
ArtyA Geneve makes unique watches. They like to experiment with interesting concepts such as sapphire crystal cases in distinct colours, and skeletonised movement designs. (Please read here and here.) Their designs – though an acquired taste – are highly original.
Tonneau shaped watches are not as commercially successful as round cases. Yet for Artya Geneve, they are a vital part of their identity. Their impressive piece-unique Curvy Purity Tourbillon Ruby sold for CHF 114,300 in support of the Philippe & Elisabeth Dufour Fondation at the Phillips Geneva Watch Auction: XXI held during 10 – 11 May 2025.
The Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium is a bold watch. Its exquisitely finished grade 5 titanium case houses a skeletonised movement with haute-horology features. It is likely to appeal to collectors who appreciate a modern and unconventional take on an hours-minutes-small seconds watch.
