Aprilia has unveiled the limited-edition version of its flagship superbike, RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed, at EICMA 2026. Limited to 500 units worldwide, the special edition introduces carbon fibre wheels and aerodynamic bodywork with mechanically adjustable Öhlins suspension, developed in tandem with Aprilia Racing.
What is special about the Aprilia RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed.’s aerodynamics?
The RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed .’s most distinctive feature is its carbon-fibre Leg Wings, a first for a production superbike. Aprilia developed the new aerodynamic appendages using its MotoGP experience, where it has remained a pioneer in advancing the technology in the championship.
The aerodynamic elements are designed to generate additional downforce over the rear axle, particularly when the motorcycle is accelerating and cornering. According to Aprilia, the Leg wings increase rear-axle downforce by 20 per cent, helping improve rear-tyre grip without compromising handling.
The leg wing is only a small part of the overall aerodynamic package seen on the superbike, such as overlapping wing-like surfaces beneath the fairing and side panels, all designed to aid overall handling and performance of the motorcycle on the track.

What engine powers the Aprilia RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed.?
Power comes from Aprilia’s1,099cc, longitudinal 65-degree V4 engine, featuring liquid cooling, double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The engine produces 220 hp at 13,000 rpm and 127 Nm of torque at 10,800 rpm, with power delivered through a six-speed cassette-type gearbox and shifting is assisted by Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS), which enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
For riders seeking additional performance, Aprilia offers a full ART (Aprilia Racing Technology) exhaust system featuring a carbon-fibre SC-Project silencer. With this optional system, the V4 produces 223.1 hp at 13,000 rpm and 131.8 Nm at 10,800 rpm.
What weight-saving components does the RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed. receive?
Aprilia has extensively incorporated the use of carbon fibre across several body components, including the front and rear mudguards, side panels, heel guards and front brake air intakes. However, the most significant weight-saving component is the set of BST carbon-fibre wheels. Overall, the RSV4Obscure Spe.Ed. has a kerb weight of 201kg with 90 per cent fuel. This is 3kg less than the RSV4 Factory.

What suspension and braking hardware does the Aprilia RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed. use?
Unlike the recently launched RSV4 Factory, which uses semi-active Öhlins suspension, the Obscure Spe.Ed. gets mechanically adjustable Öhlins components. These include a 43mm NIX upside-down front fork with a titanium nitride surface treatment and an Öhlins TTX piggyback rear shock absorber.
These units offer adjustments for spring preload, compression and rebound damping, allowing riders to configure the suspension according to their preferences and circuit conditions.
Braking is handled by twin 330mm floating front discs paired with Brembo Hypure monobloc radial callipers featuring four opposing pistons. The rear uses a 220mm disc with a two-piston Brembo calliper. A Bosch cornering ABS with three settings and rear-wheel lift mitigation is also included.

What electronic riding aids are available on the RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed.?
The RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed. comes with Aprilia’s APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) electronics package, supported by a six-axis inertial measurement platform and a Ride-by-Wire throttle system. It offers six riding modes, comprising three road and three track settings, along with adjustable traction control, wheelie control, engine maps and engine-braking control.
Additional standard equipment includes the Track Pack and Race Pack. The Track Pack adds launch control, a pit limiter and adjustable slide control with predictive logic. The Race Pack’s Corner by Corner function automatically adjusts traction control, wheelie control and engine braking according to the settings selected by the rider.
Other electronic equipment includes three-map cornering ABS, the Aprilia Quick Shift system, a GPS module for automatic lap-time recording and the fourth-generation Aprilia MIA multimedia platform.
What design changes distinguish the Aprilia RSV4 Obscure Spe.Ed.?
The Obscure Spe.Ed features the same similar superbike silhouette as the standard RSV4, but draped in extensive aerodynamic appendages across the bodywork, giving it a very hardcore, track-ready aesthetic. The bodywork is finished exclusively in an all-black colour scheme, combining gloss and matt black surfaces with exposed carbon-fibre components.
Each of the 500 motorcycles will carry an individual production number, with the model name and serial number laser-engraved on the steering head. The motorcycle retains its road-homologated configuration with a passenger seat and footrests, while riders can install Leg Wings in their place for a more track-focused setup.
