ANA Holdings To Place New 77-Aircraft Order With Three Manufacturers

The equation reads sixty-eight firm orders and nine options.

Japan’s ANA Holdings (ANAHD) has confirmed it will place a new aircraft order with three manufacturers – Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer – totalling 77 aeroplanes. The aviation group anticipates high demand for Asia-North America routes in the coming years, and the re-expansion of Narita International Airport is planned. Therefore, ANAHD has decided to purchase 18 Boeing 787-9 widebodies powered by GE engines. The new jets will help the group strengthen its international presence by introducing new routes. Furthermore, ANAHD has exercised options for five Boeing 787-9 aircraft (part of the order from February 2020), and ten Boeing 737-8 aircraft (part of the order announced in January 2019).

For Peach Aviation, part of ANAHD, will be a fresh order for ten Airbus A321neo jets and three A321XLR aircraft. The latter, the latest addition to the A320 family, will be powered by LEAP-1A engines, capable of delivering a range of up to 8,704km. Another 14 Airbus A321neos and 12 Boeing 737-8, eight confirmed and four options, will also comprise ANAHD’s latest order.

In addition, the group has zeroed in on 20 100-seat Embraer E190-E2 jets (15 confirmed and 5 options) powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1900G engines. The maximum claimed range is 5,278km. No Japanese carrier has ever purchased or flown this aircraft type. ANAHD claims the Embraer fleet, which is expected to be introduced in FY2028, will help strengthen the group’s domestic routes network.

ANAHD’s total aircraft order book, including those ordered before and the newly announced one, will total nearly 320 aircraft in FY2030. Approximately 120 of them will be Boeing 787 series aircraft.
