All-new OMODA C5 crossover SUV introduced in the UAE
Yet another chic Chinese vehicle is here to rattle the crossover segment
The Chinese automobile brand OMODA&JAECOO has announced the arrival of the OMODA C5 in the UAE market. If you haven’t heard of OMODA that’s probably because it is a new marque under the state-owned vehicle manufacturer Chery, which only debuted only in 2022.
Design: sporty exterior; dual screens and dual wireless charging modules
The OMODA C5 will take on the compact crossover SUV segment. It measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and a height of 1,588 mm. It has been designed with the objective of providing the customer with artful aesthetics, safety, and performance as well. Its unique exterior design features a sporty, streamlined silhouette with a diamond cut geometric matrix grille, a floating roof and 18-inch two-tone blade wheels. As per the manufacturer, “The design language of “Art in Motion” is said to create a fashionable and avant-garde visual effect”.
The C5’s cabin comes with dual 10.25-inch screens with HD resolution and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Passengers can also enjoy the comfort of heated/ventilated seats.
Safety: ADAS 4.0 and 5-star NCAP ratings
OMODA C5 is built using ultra-high strength steel and offers plenty in the safety department. It comes equipped with 6 airbags and 360° panoramic image. In addition, it also comes with the latest generation of ADAS 4.0, a suite of driver assistance systems that includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping, etc. The OMODA C5 also earned 5-star ENCAP and ANCAP ratings.
Powertrain: turbocharged 1.6-litre
The C5 comes powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre motor which generates a max. horsepower of 147 hp and 210 Nm of torque 1,750 – 4,000 rpm. It is claimed to hit a 100 km/h from a standstill in 9.9 seconds and will manage to churn out a fuel economy of 7.1 l/100km.
While the official spec sheet for GCC spec model has yet to be released, expect to see similar, if not the same, numbers, figures and features mentioned here, which are based off OMODA’s global website. Pricing, warranty and service details have also yet to be announced for the UAE.
The OMODA C5 will take on the likes of Geely Coolray, MG One and RX-5 etc.
