Air Canada And ITA Airways Announce Their New Codeshare Agreement

Codeshare Agreement Details

From July 21, 2025, Air Canada and ITA Airways will work together to make travel between Canada, Italy, and other countries easier. This partnership allows passengers to create one-stop itineraries through Rome and Toronto. Air Canada flights will now include ITA Airways routes from Rome to cities like Florence, Palermo, Catania, Tirana, Bari, and Tel Aviv. They will also include flights to North African cities like Cairo, Tunis, and Algiers, once they have received the necessary governmental approvals. ITA Airways flights will now include Air Canada routes from Toronto to Canadian cities like Vancouver, Calgary, and St. John’s, as well as U.S. cities like Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Dallas.

Strategic Plans and Loyalty Programs

This partnership is part of a bigger plan. ITA Airways is joining the Star Alliance network by early 2026. This will help both airlines work better together and give passengers a smoother travel experience. Air Canada and ITA Airways are planning to introduce reciprocal earning and redemption of their loyalty points banked through their respective programs—Aeroplan and Volare. This means passengers will be able to earn and use points on both airlines, making travel more rewarding.

Easy Travel and Cultural Exchange

Air Canada also works with Trenitalia, Italy’s high-speed train service. It allows passengers to travel to over 30 cities in Italy easily. This partnership not only makes travel simpler but also helps connect people and cultures. It supports the Italian community in Canada and allows ITA Airways to grow internationally.
