2027 Ducati DesertX Rally Unveiled at EICMA With New V2 Engine and Full Floater Suspension

The 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally has been unveiled at EICMA 2026 with a new 890cc V2 engine, an aluminium monocoque frame and Full Floater rear suspension. The off-road-focused motorcycle also gets upgraded KYB suspension, tubeless spoked wheels and updated electronics.

Ducati has unveiled the 227 DesertX Rally at EICMA 2026, introducing significant mechanical and chassis updates to its off-road-focused adventure motorcycle. The off-road motorcycle has been developed by drawing on experience from rally raids and challenging off-road conditions.

What is new on the 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally?

The 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally uses the same technical platform as the 2nd generation DesertX family introduced this year. But the Rally variant distinguishes itself with a dedicated monocoque frame and a Full Floater rear suspension system with progressive linkages.

The motorcycle also receives long-travel KYB suspension with a closed-cartridge competition fork, premium surface treatments and a fully adjustable rear shock absorber. An adjustable Öhlins steering damper and new tubeless spoked wheels complete the updated off-road package.

The motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear Takasago Excel tubeless spoked wheels. The rear rim features a 36-spoke configuration, and its narrower channel profile is designed to improve agility when negotiating difficult terrain.

What chassis and suspension hardware does the 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally get?

The Ducati DesertX Rally is built around an aluminium monocoque frame, developed to provide control and ruggedness while offroading. One of the significant updates for the 2027 Rally model is the introduction of a Full Floater rear suspension system with progressive linkages.

At the front, the motorcycle uses a 48mm KYB closed-cartridge competition fork. The fork uses Kashima Coating and DLC surface treatments on its stanchions, intended to improve suspension operation and consistency when dealing with rough terrain.

What engine powers the 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally?

The 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally is powered by an 890cc, twin-cylinder V2 engine, which, according to Ducati, is the lightest twin-cylinder it has produced in its class. The V2 engine produces 110.3 hp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque.

Ducati states the engine is engineered to offer a generous amount of torque at low and medium engine speeds, which is intended to support traction and control during off-road riding.

What electronic features does the 2027 Ducati DesertX Rally offer?

The DesertX Rally is equipped with an electronics package intended to support different riding conditions. Its electronics package is supported by  Ducati’s latest-generation six-axis IMU, offering six Riding Modes – Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally – along with four Power Modes, Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 and cruise control.

The motorcycle also gets a 5-inch colour TFT display with a dedicated Rally mode featuring a trip meter function. Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation are available as optional equipment.
