Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Unveiled with 1,079 bhp and a Top Speed of 350 kmph

- The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider develops 1,079 bhp and 1,100 Nm of torque through a plug-in hybrid powertrain comprising a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and three electric motors. - The open-top supercar boasts a top speed of 350 kmph, which Aston Martin claims is achievable with both the roof attached and removed, using the optional carbon-fibre hardtop. - Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q3 2027, following the world premiere of the Valhalla Spider at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas.

Aston Martin unveiled the Valhalla Spider, an open-top variant of the brand’s mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar. The model incorporates all the technologies found in the Valhalla Coupé, alongside several modifications specifically designed to enhance the driving experience with the roof removed. Developed for both road and track use, the car combines hybrid propulsion with adjustable aerodynamics.

Which Powertrain Does the Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Use?

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, producing 817 bhp. Three electric motors contribute an additional 248 bhp, bringing the system’s total power output to 1,079 bhp and its peak torque to 1,100 Nm.

Two electric motors power the front wheels, while the third works in conjunction with the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to help drive the rear wheels using the V8 engine. This configuration also enables electric torque vectoring.

A high-performance battery supplies power to the electric motors. The Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control system manages the powertrain, braking, steering, suspension and aerodynamics to regulate the car’s behaviour in different driving conditions.

What Is the Top Speed of the Valhalla Spider?

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider has a claimed top speed of 350 kmph. According to the manufacturer, this speed is achievable with the roof removed or with the optional carbon-fibre hardtop fitted.

With the standard removable fabric roof in place, the car’s top speed is limited to 200 kmph. Removing the roof enables open-air driving, while the optional hardtop allows the car to reach its full top speed.

A specially designed wind deflector helps manage airflow around the occupants. The car also features an improved engine intake snorkel positioned 35 mm higher than the equivalent component on the Coupé.

The wind deflector consists of three foldable sections that can be stowed in the 15-litre compartments located on either side of the sills.

How Has Aston Martin Modified the Spider’s Aerodynamics?

The Valhalla Spider features the same active aerodynamic system as the Coupé. This system manages airflow across movable aerodynamic surfaces and beneath the underbody to regulate downforce and drag. Aston Martin claims that the car generates more than 600 kg of downforce with the roof fitted.

The aerodynamic settings and Electronic Stability Programme calibration account for the different airflow patterns encountered with the roof fitted and removed. These aerodynamic controls work alongside the Electronic Stability Programme and the car’s four driving modes to regulate grip and stability in different driving conditions.

What Structural and Interior Changes Does the Spider Introduce?

The Valhalla Spider features a carbon-fibre passenger cell developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies. Its construction combines resin-transfer moulding and autoclave production techniques to deliver a structure that balances strength with low weight.

The Valhalla Spider retains the carbon-fibre dihedral doors found on the Coupé, although their mechanisms have been improved. The frameless door design, together with modifications to the edges of the door glass, is intended to make entering and exiting the cabin easier when the roof is fitted.

A new carbon-fibre Touring Seat is offered as standard. However, buyers can opt for the original carbon-fibre seat from the Coupé at no additional cost if they prefer greater support during dynamic driving.

The standard fabric roof provides weather protection, while a rain cover is supplied for use when the car is stationary.

When Will the Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Be Launched?

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider will make its world premiere at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q3 2027.

The car’s retail price, along with further details about ordering and delivery, has yet to be announced.
