The race weekend will run from 1–3 October, with practice and qualifying scheduled across Friday and Saturday before the Grand Prix on Sunday.
It will mark Formula 1’s return to Türkiye after a six-year absence and the 10th edition of the Turkish Grand Prix at İstanbul Park.
Türkiye’s Formula 1 comeback was first announced in April, with the 2027 date now formally locked into the calendar.
İstanbul Park Returns After Six Years
TOSFED İstanbul Park will once again host the championship on its 5.3-kilometre layout, a circuit long associated with high-speed commitment, elevation change and one of Formula 1’s most recognisable corners.
Turn 8 remains the defining feature. The long, multi-apex left-hander places sustained lateral load on both driver and tyres, demanding balance and precision at high speed while also exposing weaknesses in setup and tyre management.
The rest of the circuit combines heavy braking, fast direction changes and multiple overtaking opportunities, giving İstanbul Park a character that remains distinct from many modern Formula 1 venues.
That technical variety has played a major part in the circuit’s reputation since its original Formula 1 debut.

Turkish Grand Prix Set for 10th Edition
The 2027 event will be the 10th Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix held at İstanbul Park. Its return brings the championship back to a market that previously became known for strong fan interest and a circuit capable of producing strategically complex races.
The October date also places the event in the latter part of the 2027 season, adding further significance to a weekend that could carry both sporting and championship weight depending on how the year develops.
Five-Year Formula 1 Agreement Runs Through 2031
The Turkish Grand Prix will not be a one-off return. Formula 1 races at TOSFED İstanbul Park are set to be organised by TOSFED between 2027 and 2031 under the new agreement.
The return follows long-term efforts by TOSFED, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to bring Formula 1 back to Türkiye.
That gives İstanbul Park a five-year position on the calendar and re-establishes Türkiye as a regular Formula 1 host.
Global Promotion Campaign Already Underway
With the race date now confirmed, international promotion around the 2027 Turkish Grand Prix is also entering a new phase.
The “Catch It If You Can” promotional film, produced by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has surpassed 571 million views.
Further international media projects, digital campaigns and collaborations with global content creators are planned as İstanbul builds towards Formula 1’s return.
The wider objective is to use the Grand Prix not only as a sporting event, but also as a major tourism and international visibility platform for the city.
Formula 1 Returns to One of Its Most Distinctive Circuits
For Formula 1, the return of İstanbul Park restores one of the championship’s most distinctive modern circuits.
Its combination of speed, elevation and technical complexity gives the venue a clear identity, while Turn 8 remains one of the most demanding corners Formula 1 drivers will face across the season.
On 3 October 2027, that challenge returns to the calendar. After six years away, Formula 1 is heading back to İstanbul.
