What is the Suzuki Hayabusa Special Edition?
Suzuki has launched the special edition of its iconic Hayabusa superbike. The special edition comes with updated software, revised rider aids, exclusive equipment and special visual treatment. It’s based on the current generation of the Hayabusa, without a complete mechanical overhaul.
What is new visually?
The biggest visual change is the Special Edition’s blue-and-white colour scheme. The contrasting white finish gives the superbike a more distinctive appearance than the standard version.
The superbike also features exclusive graphic elements and special-edition badging. A dedicated emblem is placed on the fuel tank, and a matching single-seat cowling is supplied as standard. Despite new graphics and visual appearance, the motorcycle’s design remains inherently unchanged.
What new electronics does it get?
Electronics are where the special edition receives a major update. The Hayabusa Special Edition receives an updated Power Mode Selector that allows the rider to choose between different engine-response characteristics and has revised selectable throttle maps to improve torque delivery. The launch-control and smart cruise control systems have also been refined.
Suzuki has also incorporated an ELIIY Power HY110SS, a 12V lithium-ion starter battery developed specifically for motorcycle applications.
What engine powers the Hayabusa Special Edition?
The Suzuki Hayabusa Special Edition is powered by a 1,340cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC petrol engine. The engine produces 188 hp at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, with power sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter.
What frame does the Hayabusa Special Edition use?
The Suzuki Hayabusa Special Edition uses a twin-spar aluminium frame, paired with a fully adjustable KYB suspension. For braking, the motorcycle uses Brembo Stylema four-piston callipers at the front and a Nissin single-piston calliper at the rear.
