What is the new Renaud Tixier Monday Organica Black and Bordeaux?
They are new versions of Renaud Tixier’s Monday Organica, a two-hand watch whose dial patterns evoke “an intricate organic composition inspired by the forms of the living world.” Both models are powered by a sophisticated automatic movement. The Monday Organica debuted last year with the launch of the Blue. The Black and Bordeaux are the final model in the series.
Renaud Tixier was founded in 2023 by Dominique Renaud, a master watchmaker and co-founder of Renaud & Papi and Julien Tixier, a horological constructor.
“The name Organica was chosen for its most obvious association: an organic motif, a botanical form. Yet traced back to its origins, the word belongs to a vocabulary that watchmaking has always used to designate the heart of its own mechanisms. It is this coincidence, more than the floral resemblance of the design, that deserves to be explored.”
What are their dial features?

Both the Monday Organic Black and Bordeaux showcase the same organic pattern, obtained from the curves of three components of the watch’s movement, the Calibre RVI2023. The dials are the work of Ateliers Olivier Vaucher, a Geneva based art dial specialist founded in 1978 by Dominique and Olivier Vaucher. It comprises varying métiers d’art techniques such as hand engraving, hand chasing and black and Bordeaux grand feu enamel (depending on the model).
What are their dial features?

The case of the Monday Organica Black is made from 950 platinum whereas the Bordeaux is made from 5N rose gold. Both cases measure 40.8 mm (diameter) * 10.5 mm (thickness, excluding sapphire crystal). Dial side and caseback feature sapphire crystals. Water resistant up to 3 ATM or approximately 30 metres.
Black comes with a hand-stitched Black Monroe calfskin leather strap fitted with a white gold pin buckle. Bordeaux comes with a hand-stitched Beige Island calfskin leather strap fitted with a rose gold pin buckle.
Does their movement have a platinum micro-rotor?
Yes. Both the Monday Organica Black and Bordeaux are powered by Calibre RVI2023, an automatic movement that drives the hours and minutes. It measures 36.8 mm (diameter) * 6.69 mm (thickness), comprises 274 parts and 31 jewels, beats at a luxurious frequency of 2.5 Hz or 18,000 vph and delivers a minimum power reserve of 60 hours.
What do we think?

The industry is crowded with independent watch brands, often charging exorbitant prices for simple two and three hand watches. Few can boast something special or unique, be it the pedigree of the founders, or the overall execution of the timepieces. Renaud Tixier fulfils both these criteria. As a co-founder of Renaud & Papi with Giulio Papi in 1986, (later sold to Audemars Piguet), Dominique Renaud had an active front row seat in creating horological complications (often ultra complex) for brands such as Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Söhne, Breguet, IWC Schaffhausen, Richard Mille and others. They were also a training ground for watchmakers who eventually founded their own independent watch brands. So, when he sets out to co-found his own watch brand, you know it is going to be worth your time.
Both the Monday Organica Black and Bordeaux (and last year’s Blue) are a visual and horological showcase with their meaningful and striking métiers d’art dials, a beautifully finished case and a haute horology movement whose twofold job is to drive the hours and minutes and enthrall the wearer when he or she turns the watch over. Limited to 7 pieces each, these will be spoken for soon (if not already), likely finding homes that appreciate independent watchmaking featuring artisanal craftsmanship.
