Buying a good phone under AED 1,000 normally means choosing which compromise you can live with. The Honor X7e Plus 5G takes an unusual route and spends most of its budget on battery and durability rather than on the screen or the camera. It is on sale in the UAE now, and I used our review unit as my daily phone for four days. Here is how it holds up.
How durable is the Honor X7e Plus 5G?
Very, and this is the part of the phone that justifies its existence. The Honor X7e Plus holds IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, and Honor certifies it to the IP69K level under the ISO 20653:2023 standard. In plain terms, it shrugs off fine dust, freshwater submersion and high-pressure water jets hot enough to sting. IP69K normally belongs on industrial equipment rather than on a phone you carry to a mall.
The testing behind it is unusually detailed. Honor ran the phone against 85 degree Celsius water, held it for 24 hours in salt-rich humidity and put it through 10,000 water exposure cycles. Structural testing covered 800,000 screen taps, 210,000 power button presses, 15,000 USB port insertions and 10,000 steel plate drop tests, and its drop certification covers a 2.5 metre fall onto smooth granite. These are Honor’s own lab conditions rather than a guarantee, and Honor says as much, but the depth of testing is rare at this price.
Three features build on the ratings. One Tap Dust and Water Ejection clears the speaker after a soaking, Wet-hand Touch Enhancement keeps the screen responsive when your fingers are damp, and Underwater Photo Mode lets you shoot below the surface. Honor rates the phone to run between minus 30 and 50 degrees Celsius, which matters more here than almost anywhere else, and says it is engineered to last six years.
How does the Honor X7e Plus feel to hold?
Solid, and lighter in the hand than the spec sheet suggests. The Honor X7e Plus measures 168.3mm by 78.54mm by 8.3mm and weighs 216.5 grams, with curved edges that sit comfortably against your palm. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor doubles as the power key and reads your thumb almost instantly.
There is 2D face recognition as well. It photographs you with the selfie camera and matches that image against the one saved during setup, rather than mapping depth and contours the way 3D systems do. It works, though it takes a beat longer than the fingerprint reader.
Is the Honor X7e Plus 5G display sharp enough?
It is bright and smooth, but it is not sharp. The Honor X7e Plus uses a 6.87 inch TFT LCD running at 120Hz, with an HD+ resolution of 1592 x 720 pixels across 16.7 million colours. Spread over a screen this large, that leaves text and fine detail softer than a 1080p panel would. If you read a lot on your phone, you will notice it.
Brightness tells a better story. Honor rates the panel at 860 nits typical and 1,020 nits in high brightness mode, with a Sunlight Enhancement Display mode for outdoor use, and it stayed readable through UAE daylight. The eye comfort suite covers DC Dimming, Dynamic Dimming, low blue light, dark mode and a super low brightness setting, and I leaned on the dimming through long YouTube sessions in a dark room. The 120Hz refresh rate does quiet work too, since scrolling feels far slicker than the resolution suggests.
How does the Honor X7e Plus perform day to day?
It handles everyday tasks well and stops short of heavy gaming. The Honor X7e Plus runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 with two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.3GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.95GHz and an Adreno 613 GPU. That is budget-tier silicon and it behaves like it, which means comfortable messaging, social media and casual games, and no stable high frame rate gaming.
MagicOS 10 sits on top of Android 16 and feels quick in normal use. You can buy the phone with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, or 256GB with 8GB. Honor’s RAM Turbo borrows a slice of storage and presents it as extra memory, which Honor puts at an 8GB plus 16GB experience on the larger model. Our review unit was the 6GB version and reported 12GB in total. Extended memory runs slower than the real thing, but it holds a stack of apps open without complaint. If you multitask hard, pay for the 8GB version.
How good is the Honor X7e Plus camera?
Competent in good light, unremarkable everywhere else. The Honor X7e Plus pairs a 50MP main sensor at f/1.8 with an f/3.0 auxiliary lens, and it offers up to 8x digital zoom. Stills top out at 8160 x 6120 pixels and video at 1080p, which covers social media and WhatsApp but nothing more ambitious. Capture modes run to portrait with beauty and bokeh, night, high-res, panorama, slow motion, time-lapse and a pro mode, lit by a single LED flash. The front camera uses a 5MP sensor at f/2.2 and shoots 1080p at 30fps.
Daylight shots come out clean and usable. Push into low light or zoom past a couple of steps and the limits arrive quickly, which is exactly what this hardware costs.
What can the Honor X7e Plus AI tools do?
They cover most of the fixes people actually need. AI Image to Video 2.0 anchors the set, animating a still photo into a short clip from a conversational prompt, and Honor lists a full editing suite around it: AI Outpainting, AI Upscale, AI Eraser, AI Eraser Passers-by, AI Remove, Reflection Removal, AI Open Eyes and AI Cutout. System tools add AI Memory, Circle to Search, AI Summary and Smart Recommendations.
Two earned their place on our review unit. AI Outpainting takes a photo shot in 4:3 and generates the missing edges to fill a 1:1, 16:9 or 9:16 crop, which removes a step if you post to Instagram or TikTok. AI Open Eyes reopens the eyes of anyone who blinked during a group shot. Neither is common at this price, and both do more than the marketing suggests.
What does the AI button on the Honor X7e Plus do?
It launches whatever you assign to it. The Honor X7e Plus puts a dedicated AI button on the side, separate from the power key, and Honor maps a long press to Smart Recommendations by default. You can reassign it to your own apps and commands. Mine opened Google Gemini on a short press, and reaching an assistant without hunting through the app drawer became a small daily convenience.
How long does the Honor X7e Plus 5G battery last?
Longer than anything else at this price, and this is the reason to buy the phone. The Honor X7e Plus carries a lithium-ion polymer battery with a typical capacity of 8,100mAh and a rated capacity of 7,900mAh, and Honor fits it into a body just 8.3mm thick.
Honor puts detailed numbers behind it, quoting 59 hours of calling, 34 hours of Spotify, 28 hours of YouTube, 21 hours of TikTok and 15 hours of PUBG from a full charge. Those are Honor’s lab figures rather than results we measured, and its two-day positioning rests on them.
Four days with the phone pointed the same way. Across social media, YouTube and outdoor photography, our review unit went well beyond a single day between charges, and at the time of writing it sat at 90 percent with the system estimating close to 50 hours remaining. Four days is enough to confirm the phone comfortably clears a day and keeps going, though not enough to publish a verified screen-on-time figure. If you travel often, you may stop packing a charger for short trips.
How fast does the Honor X7e Plus charge?
Honor quotes 110 minutes for a full charge at 45W through Honor SuperCharge, and the 45W adapter comes in the box. Filling a battery this large takes time, so that figure reads better than it sounds. There is also 7.5W reverse wired charging, which turns the phone into a power bank when a friend runs flat.
How do the Honor X7e Plus speakers sound?
Loud, and loud has a ceiling. The Honor X7e Plus uses dual stereo speakers with Honor Sound 7.3 and a 400 percent high volume mode built for outdoor environments. That mode helps in a busy room or a car, but push it through video and the audio starts to distort. I settled just under the maximum for most content and saved the boost for when it earned its keep.
What connectivity does the Honor X7e Plus have?
Everything the price demands, and NFC on top. You get dual nano-SIM with 5G and 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5 across 2.4GHz and 5GHz, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC and aptX HD for better wireless audio. My headphones paired quickly and reconnected without fuss every time. The port is USB-C at USB 2.0 speeds with OTG support, and there is no 3.5mm headphone jack, so plan on Bluetooth or an adapter.

Should you buy the Honor X7e Plus 5G?
Buy it at AED 899 if battery life and durability sit at the top of your list. Honor built this phone for people who travel, work outdoors, or simply resent charging every night, and little else near the money pairs an 8,100mAh battery with triple IP ratings, certified 2.5 metre drop resistance and a dedicated AI button. The AI tools are a genuine bonus rather than a checkbox.
The compromises are clear and worth stating plainly. The HD+ LCD is the weakest part of the package and the camera hardware is ordinary. At AED 1,099 the 256GB version meets stronger mid-range rivals where both weaknesses count for more. The base model is the smarter buy, and it is a strong one.
