What is the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition?
The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition is a new variant of Aprilia’s middleweight naked motorcycle for the Indian market. The Special Edition variant takes its design inspiration from the iconic 2006 Tuono 1000R. The Special Edition, apart from visual differences, also focuses on improved ergonomics and ride-focused mechanical improvements.
What are the key changes in the Special Edition?
The Special Edition brings cosmetic and ergonomic updates rather than a complete mechanical and performance overhaul. The most notable changes include a taller handlebar for a more upright posture, an adjustable brake lever, a redesigned seat with high-resilience foam, a smoked flyscreen, and revised suspension damping for better bump absorption and a compliant ride suitable for the Indian roads.
What are the new colour options?
The Special Edition is offered in two new colour schemes: Mamba Black and Puma Grey. Aprilia says these liveries are inspired by the 2006 Tuono 1000R, giving the motorcycle a stronger connection to the brand’s heritage.
What powers the Aprilia Tuono 457?
The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition continues to use the same 457cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine as the standard bike. The 457cc parallel twin develops 47.6 hp and 43.5 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox while retaining the same performance tune as the standard variant.
What features are carried over from the standard model?
The Special Edition retains the Tuono 457’s main equipment list, including the TFT display, full-LED lighting, ride-by-wire throttle, ride modes, traction control and switchable ABS.
What type of mechanical hardware underpins the Tuono 457?
The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition is underpinned by a lightweight, performance-oriented twin-spar aluminium frame and chassis setup. At the front, the Tuono 457 uses a recalibrated 41mm USD fork with preload adjustment and 120mm of wheel travel and a monoshock with preload adjustment and 130mm of travel at the rear.
Braking is handled by a 320mm front disc with a ByBre four-piston radial calliper and a 220mm rear disc with a ByBre calliper.
What is the price of the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition in India?
The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition is priced at Rs 3.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Special Edition costs just Rs 2,000 more than the standard model, making the upgrade path relatively accessible for buyers who want the new colour schemes and comfort changes without moving into a significantly higher price bracket.
