BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit Revealed: A Street-Legal Dose Of Proper Motorsport

Parts from BMW’s GT race cars slapped on the BMW M2 in a street-legal package? Take my money!

What Is The BMW M Performance Track Kit For The M2?

Track days have become the new weekend addiction for petrolheads. BMW knows it. And the brand has now built something specifically for it. The new M Performance Track Kit transforms the BMW M2 into something closer to a club-racing machine while remaining fully street-legal.

It’s a retrofit package designed to sharpen the car’s aerodynamics, suspension, and track capability without touching the already brilliant engine. In other words, BMW has developed a GT race car that doesn’t need a trailer to get to the track.

What Aerodynamic Upgrades Does The M2 Track Kit Come With?

The headline feature here is the rear wing. And not just any wing. BMW has fitted a swan-neck rear wing derived from the M4 GT3 and GT4 race cars, which is about as close as you can get to motorsport hardware on a road car. It even integrates the brake light into the wing itself.

The wing features a special Race Mode that slides it 50mm rearwards to increase aerodynamic efficiency on track. The angle of attack is also adjustable so drivers can dial in more rear downforce depending on the circuit.

At the front, the M2 receives a manually adjustable front splitter, dive planes on the bumper, wheel arch diffusers, and an air scoop beneath the engine oil cooler. Together they increase front-end downforce and grip during high-speed cornering.

How Does The Track Kit Improve Handling?

Aerodynamics are only half the story. The bigger upgrade sits underneath the car. BMW has fitted four-way adjustable motorsport dampers, allowing adjustments for both rebound and compression. According to BMW, this is the first street-legal motorsport damper system the company has offered.

The suspension setup also includes adjustable support bearings and allows the car to be lowered by up to 20mm. The height adjustment is continuously variable, meaning drivers can fine-tune the setup depending on whether the car is attacking a racetrack or cruising to Cars & Coffee. The setup was fine-tuned by BMW M test engineer and Nürburgring record holder Jörg Weidinger, which is the kind of name you want behind your suspension settings.

Does The Track Kit Change The M2’s Engine?

Surprisingly, no. And that’s probably the right decision. The M2’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six already produces 473hp, which is more than enough to make the compact coupe lively. Power continues to go to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Instead of chasing bigger power figures, BMW focused on making the existing performance easier to exploit on track. Better stability, more grip, and sharper responses when pushing the car near its limits.

A New M Performance Exhaust For The M2 CS

BMW didn’t forget about the M2 CS either. For the more hardcore version of the coupe, BMW is offering a new M Performance exhaust system designed to enhance the sound of the 530hp inline-six engine. The system features improved exhaust gas routing and selectable sound modes to amplify the engine’s character.

The tailpipes themselves are made from carbon fibre and titanium, materials lifted straight from the motorsport playbook. Beyond the visual drama, the system also trims around 8 kilograms compared to the standard exhaust.

When Will The BMW M2 Track Kit Be Available?

The M Performance Track Kit will be available starting July 2026. In Germany, BMW lists the kit at €23,500 plus installation. The M Performance exhaust system for the M2 CS starts at €8,343.50, also excluding installation.

Not cheap, but then again neither is track addiction. And if you’re the kind of person who spends weekends chasing lap times, this kit turns the M2 into something that looks like it just rolled out of the Nürburgring paddock.
