Gérald Genta unveils the stylish new Geneva Time Only

An LVMH Watch Week 2026 Milan launch, it is the brand’s new time-only watch.

What is the Gérald Genta Geneva Time Only?

It is the LVMH owned brand’s new time-only watch beautifully embodying ‘l’Esprit de Genève’ and the enduring artistic legacy of Gérald Genta.” It is presented in two versions: Geneva Time Only Marrone and Geneva Time Only Grafite.

“I wanted to capture the intuitive, instinctive genius and artistry of Mr. Genta.” – Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.

What are its dial features?

Image: Geneva Time Only Grafite (pictured). Geneva Time Only Marrone (header image). “Born from creative ingenuity and shaped for elegance, the Geneva collection celebrates audacious, sculptural forms. Its updated cushion-shaped case —softer than Mr. Genta’s original 1970s design — strikes a rare balance: daring yet discreet, soft yet sharp.”

The Marrone features a tone-on-tone brass dial with a grained finish with “a smouldering interplay of light and warm, chestnuts-hued gradients, evoking a sense audacity and retro-inspired sophistication.” The Grafite features a silver-shaded brass dial with a grained finish with “a striking backdrop for the minute track.”

The hands and hour-markers on both versions are crafted from rose gold 4N. The hands are polished and rounded with an arrow tip. The outer dial features a “two-segment minute track” – the inner segment is circular whereas the outer segment follows the “unique cushion shape” of the case.

Is the case shape round or square?

Image: Notice the single lug on both sides of the case. “Playing with light is paramount in the Geneva collection. The contrast between polished and satin surfaces reinforces the case’s contemporary, understated aesthetic. Significantly, each case is meticulously crafted in-house at La Fabrique des Boîtiers.”

Neither. It is a cushion shaped case that “with its gadroon forms a timeless, modern silhouette that transcends trends.” The Marrone’s case is crafted from rose gold 4N and the Grafite’s case is crafted from white gold. The case measures 38 mm (diameter) * 8.15 mm (thickness). Lug width: 20-18 mm. Dial side and caseback feature a sapphire crystal.

The Marrone comes with a brown calfskin leather strap fitted to a rose gold 4N buckle. The Grafite comes with a grey calfskin leather strap fitted to a white gold buckle.

Is it powered by an automatic movement?

Image: The case features an abundance of details. The caseback is screwed to the main case with four tiny screws. The movement’s high beat rate of 4 Hz is perfectly suited for a modern active lifestyle (though no sports with this watch).

Both versions are powered by Zenith Elite GG-005P, an automatic movement that drives the hours and minutes. (Zenith is owned by LVMH.) Diameter: 25.6 mm. Thickness: 3.88 mm. Parts: 158. Jewels: 27. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 50 hours. Movement features a redesigned automatic winding rotor.

What do we think?

Gérald Genta (May 1, 1931 – August 17, 2011) was one of the greatest – perhaps the greatest – watch designer of all time. His creations include icons such as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Bulgari Bulgari-Bulgari, Cartier Pasha, IWC Schaffhausen Ingenieur, Patek Philippe Nautilus, and the Universal Genèva Polerouter. The Gérald Genta brand was revived under LVMH ownership in 2023. The first model to debut was the Gentissima Oursin – a ladies’ watch, soon followed by the Geneva Minute Repeater Black Onyx. I was fortunate to see the Gérald Genta (and DANIEL ROTH, also LVMH owned and revived) lineup at the recently held Dubai Watch Week 2025.

Image: I love the grained finish on both the dials. On the Grafite (right), the rose gold 4N hands and hour-markers and white minute track contrast beautifully with the dial and white gold case, delivering “a cooler metallic presence.”

The Geneva Time Only is a much-needed model for the resurgent brand’s evolving range. It is a stylish interpretation of a time-only watch, one that will appeal to both genders and with a price that does not break the bank. Its unique design and abundance of overall details makes it a worthy addition to any watch collection.
