Each year India records more than 150,000 road fatalities and a very high percentage of this number attributed to commercial and fleet vehicles, for some contect accoring to UN analyses India only accounts for only 1% of the global fleet vehicle in operation, but india alone contributes to 11% of overall road fatalaties related to commercial and fleet around the globe – it is among the highest in the world, and growing, a graving safety concern for the Indian Authorities and road users.
To curb these fatalities and make Indian roads safer, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) in India has recently mandated the deployment of Lane Departure Warning System and Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning System in new commercial vehicles with a capacity of 8 or more passengers from 2026 and and for the existing vehcile their owners or fleet operators are notified to retro fit thier vehicles with after market solutions, which offer Lane departure warning system and other features mandated by the authorities.
This is where Netradyne comes in with its recently launched D-450 system – A state-of-the-art in-cab driver monitoring system that utilizes artificial intelligence to monitor in-cab behaviour of the driver and alert whenever it detects driver fatigue and drowsiness. The D-450 utilises four cameras that monitor the driver’s eyes and facial expressions to look for signs that indicate driver fatigue and drowsiness.
Netradyne leverages years of research data on sleep patterns and fatigue in humans to build AI models that are incorporated in the D-450 driver monitoring system, which Netradyne claims analyzes the driver for 100% of the driving time to detect early-stage drowsiness and microsleeps using scientifically authenticated method for detecting drowsiness, like Percentage of Eyelid Closure over the Pupil over Time, even in low light condition and also while wearing sunglasses.
In addition to monitoring the driver, the D-450 system uses front and side cameras to analyse road conditions to detect risky behaviours and provide real-time alerts to the driver and the fleet operators, who can remotely monitor each vehicle and store its data on the cloud.
