MICROMILSPEC introduces the tempting new Pilot Worldtimer

MICROMILSPEC has unveiled the Pilot Worldtimer – a watch that features a chronograph, GMT function, and world time display housed in a Grade 5 titanium case. It is available in two dial versions: black and white. It joins the brand’s new Pilot Collection, which includes the MILGRAPH – their first watch for non-military customers unveiled last year at Geneva Watch Days.

“Micromilspec makes watches for professionals, creating unique timepieces for squadrons, private companies, and individuals. Over the years, we have developed several pilot watches, including the Hercules, made for the Royal Norwegian Air Force, and the Sentry, created for personnel connected to NATO’s AWACS program. Micromilspec has developed aviation themed models for specific squadrons, but never as a standalone, permanent collection. With the brand now in its second year of public sales and returning to Geneva Watch Days, its collection is beginning to take shape. The Pilot category is set to become a defining part of the Micromilspec family.”

The Pilot Worldtimer is a Geneva Watch Days 2025 launch and is limited to 75 pieces per year for both dial versions.

Key Features

Functions and Operation

Image: Notice the instrument inspired subdials and tactical date window. The “M” near the 30-minute counter denotes “minutes” and the “H” neat the 12-hour counter denotes “hours.” Notice the brand’s signature octagon case.

Central hours and minutes.

Chronograph functions: Central chronograph seconds. 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock. 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock.

Central GMT hand.

Date aperture at 3 o’clock.

Screw-in-crown at 3 o’clock for winding, time and date setting, and adjusting the GMT hand. Pusher at 2 o’clock – to start / stop the chronograph. Pusher at 4 o’clock – to reset the chronograph.

Dial

Two dial versions

Image: Both dial versions in lume conditions. This level of lume is critical for pilots. The arrow with two dots at 12 o’clock is a pilot’s watch feature.

Both versions feature a matte dial with a grainy finish.

Skeletonised hour and minute hands, subdial hands, arrow tip of the GMT hand, and applied hours-markers – both indices and Arabic numerals – are coated with Super-LumiNova X1.

Case

Image: Notice the beautiful finish of the titanium case and the brand’s logo embossed on the crown and caseback. The Caseback can be engraved (up to 26 characters).

Case is made from micro blasted Grade 5 titanium with a satin brushed finish. The Worldtimer bezel is made from ceramic. Diameter: 42 mm. Thickness: 15mm. Lug-to-lug distance: 50.30 mm. Lug width: 20 mm. Dial side features a scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Water resistant up to 20 ATM or approximately 200 metres.

Both dial versions are available with either a black or white rubber strap.

Movement

Powered by Manufacture La Joux-Perret L122, Soignée, a mechanical automatic movement with a column wheel chronograph that drives the hours, minutes, chronograph functions (central chronograph seconds, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter), GMT function, and date. The movement features a stop-second function.

Jewels: 26. Frequency: 28,000 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 60 hours.

Manufacture La Joux-Perret offers four levels of finishing. Soignée is the second level, and features Côtes de Genève finish and palladium treatment among others. It is adjusted to 5 positions and has an accuracy of +/- 4 seconds per day. (The Standard version is adjusted to 3 positions and offers an accuracy of +/- 12 seconds per day.)

Left: The ceramic bezel features 24 cities and time zones, and is sandblasted with a polished top surface. Right: The arrow tip of the GMT hand. The world time function is not movement driven. Rather it is set using a combination of home time (central hours and minutes), reference time (the GMT hand), and the rotating world time bezel.

“Returning to Geneva Watch Days is a highlight we look forward to each year. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with press, collectors, and enthusiasts who share our passion for horology. With the introduction of a new family to our lineup, we hope to recreate the same excitement we saw last year.”Henrik Rye, Founder, MICROMILSPEC.

Our Thoughts

Pilot’s and military watches have an allure of their own. Those who would never pilot an airplane or join their country’s armed forces are tempted to wear such watches. It sparks a fantasy of sorts in many. The industry realises this – hence so many pilot’s watches offered by various brands.

It is different with MICROMILSPEC. Their core business is making custom watches for military organisations and select forces. They occasionally make watches for non-military customers (their Exclusive Annual Collection), such as the Black Badger Project Sabotage.

Image: The Pilot Worldtimer is a sexy interpretation of a pilot’s watch.

The Pilot Worldtimer is not haute horology branded as a “pilot’s watch.” Rather it is the opposite. It has been designed from the ground up with military aviation DNA and can actually be worn by aviators – military or otherwise. Its price of USD$ 3,850 gets you a lot of watch for the money, one brimming with dial and case details from a young brand with a successful military and aviation track record. For collectors who have a passion for pilot’s watches and world timers, do not miss this.
