Ginetta Unveils New GT2 Race Car as Brand Expands Global Motorsport Presence

Ginetta has long been a proving ground for world-class drivers. From its Junior Championship to GT Academy, GTP8, and GT4 categories, the British manufacturer has helped launch the careers of Lando Norris, Jamie Chadwick, and Isack Hadjar — talents who have gone on to race in Formula 1, Formula 2, IndyCar, FIA World Endurance, and IMSA. Now, Ginetta is taking the next step on its racing ladder with the launch of its most powerful machine yet: the all-new Ginetta GT2.

A Purpose-Built Contender for Global GT2 Racing

Unveiled at Spa-Francorchamps, the GT2 has been designed from the ground up to compete under SRO GT2 regulations, giving both amateur and professional drivers a thoroughbred race car for some of the world’s most iconic circuits. Unlike track-modified road cars, the GT2 is a fully bespoke racing machine — powered by a Ginetta-manufactured supercharged 6.3-litre V8 producing up to 800bhp (before Balance of Performance adjustments).

The lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork keeps the target weight to just 1,250kg, while top-tier components include an XTrac transaxle LMP gearbox with custom ratios, Ohlins TTX40 double-wishbone suspension, Alcon GT endurance brakes, and Pirelli racing slicks. Ginetta’s in-house engineering expertise also delivers a billet aluminium block and dry sump, ensuring both reliability and performance.

The new GT2 perfectly aligns with the SRO’s evolving series structure, supporting competitors ranging from ambitious Silver-rated amateurs to seasoned Platinum professionals. Drivers already progressing through Ginetta’s ladder system can now stay within the family at the highest level of GT racing, while new entrants to the brand will benefit from a car offering extreme power, intuitive drivability, and cutting-edge safety.

“The Ginetta GT2 is the most exciting entry into high-level GT racing available today,” said Mike Simpson, Chief Executive of Ginetta Motorsport. “This announcement will allow our drivers to perform under globally-leading SRO GT2 regulations, with direct access to a thriving international race calendar.”

A New Era for Ginetta and GT2 Racing

The GT2 arrives at a time of record growth for Ginetta, including its largest-ever Junior grid and expanding entries in the United States. The manufacturer also marked a major milestone earlier this year, winning the Pro/Am category of LMP3 Race Two during the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend — the first time a Ginetta has taken victory on the famous circuit.

Stéphane Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, welcomed the new arrival:

“We are delighted to welcome Ginetta to the GT2 European Series grid for 2026. With a number of exciting initiatives in place for next season, the addition of a new manufacturer is especially encouraging. The Ginetta GT2 promises to uphold the brand’s reputation for performance and affordability, while also adding greater variety to the field.”

With its driver-first ethos, standardised core racing products, and clear five-year development plan, Ginetta is reinforcing its commitment to accessible, competitive motorsport while expanding its presence on the global GT stage.
