Rezvani Retro RR1 — A Porsche 911 992 With The 935 Skin

A proper tribute to Porsche Motorsport’s golden era, reborn through modern engineering. Picture the legendary Porsche 935 from the 1970s Le Mans battles, but it’s now reimagined, with the soul of its iconic design combined with the sheer performance of today’s 992-generation Porsche 911. The Rezvani Retro RR1 is a perfect mix of historic design and modern performance, and boy does it look good!

Rezvani Retro: Rekindling The Racing Spirit

If the Rezvani name rings a bell, it’s probably because you’ve read about the brand’s claim-to-fame product — the Rezvani Tank. The brand also introduced a supercar named ‘Beast’, but the military-inspired extreme utility vehicle named Tank, and its derivatives are what made Rezvani well-known. Now, the brand has launched Rezvani Retro.

Rezvani Retro is a classic-car revival sub-brand paying a passionate tribute to automotive legends. Their inaugural creation, RR1 is the perfect example of the brand’s capability. It channels the fierce spirit of the 1970s Porsche 935 race car, a machine that defined endurance racing with its bold looks and blistering performance.

Rezvani Retro goes beyond mere nostalgia, using the precision and engineering excellence of today’s Porsche 992 platform to create a driver-focused machine that delivers the excitement of the original while meeting modern standards of performance and reliability. It’s exclusive too, with just 50 units being produced.

The Porsche 935 — A Motorsport Legend

The Porsche 911 was first introduced in 1964, and in 1972, Porsche started working on a turbocharged version of it. The original purpose of the turbocharged version was just to homologate their racing cars, but it soon became a very popular car in the public domain. For the 1976 racing season, Porsche developed the 935, which is a racecar based on the very first Porsche 911 Turbo.

The 935 had done away with the iconic circular headlamps, replacing them with a flat bonnet and an elaborate bumper for better aerodynamics. This car would go on to win the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans, and several other endurance races, including the Sebring, Daytona, and the 1,000km Nurburgring. It even led to the development of the coveted Porsche 930 Slantnose.

The Rezvani Retro RR1

Rezvani took the Porsche 992 Carrera and Turbo S platforms and transformed them into the RR1 — a carbon-fiber-clad tribute to the iconic 935. Its bodywork mirrors the original’s wide,hunkered-down stance, adding 100mm to the rear track and 50mm to the front over a standard 992 Carrera. Only the doors remain from the donor car for structural integrity; the rest is lightweight carbon fiber, keeping curb weight around a nimble 2,950 pounds in track trim.

Two variants deliver distinct thrills:

RR1 600 — Based on the 911 Carrera platform, this version packs a potent 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 600hp. Drivers can pick between a 6-speed manual or Porsche’s quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch PDK. It is rear-wheel driven for a pure, connected driving experience. The suspension can be tuned for comfortable street cruising or upgraded to the track-ready Öhlins coilovers. A handcrafted wooden shift knob adds a classy touch to the driving feel.

RR1 750 — Built on the 911 Turbo S platform, this powerhouse packs 750hp with all-wheel drive and Porsche’s fast-shifting PDK transmission. Rezvani claims it accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 2 seconds flat — that’s insane. The suspension is adjustable to suit both street driving and track days, while a deeper, aggressive exhaust note completes the thrilling experience.

Both feature upgraded turbos, intercoolers, and tuning. Staggered 20/21-inch wheels with sticky rubber, Brembo GT-S brakes, and a centrally routed exhaust complete the package. Want more? You can get optional centre-locks, polycarbonate windows, and auxiliary radiators to make the RR1 as ready for the track as it is for the street.

The Interior: Classic Design, Modern Feel

Unlike stripped-out race cars, the RR1 offers a refined, usable interior that balances vintage flair with contemporary amenities. Leather-trimmed sport seats keep you planted during spirited drives, while infotainment systems and climate control ensure comfort on longer journeys. Customization options are in abundance: bespoke seat inserts in any fabric or pattern, custom steering wheels with optional shift lights, and even a handcrafted wooden shift knob.

Limited Production & Exclusivity

Limited to just 50 examples worldwide, pricing for the RR1 starts at $195,000 (excluding the donor car). This rare machine brings the spirit of a golden era to life, with modern underpinnings, offering an authentic and thrilling driving experience. This is a machine that seems ready to be driven hard and savoured slow.
