Wizz Air’s New Inductee Is A Unique Airbus A321XLR

The engines give the specimen its individuality.

Airbus has confirmed the delivery of the first of forty-seven A321XLR aircraft on order to Wizz Air. The jet in question is unique. Unlike all other specimens delivered to operators worldwide to date, the one for Wizz Air has Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. The airline also holds the title of the first low-cost European operator to use this aircraft type.

The Hungarian carrier’s Airbus A321XLR aircraft will have 239 seats in a single-class layout. The newest single-aisle jet will also feature the newly designed Airspace cabin with a new-gen lighting system. The latest inductee will help Wizz Air strengthen its connections between Europe and the Middle East.

The A321XLR offers more range and payload capacity than any of its siblings. Airbus claims that the Xtra Long Range can travel up to 4,700 nautical miles while consuming 30 per cent less fuel per seat than the previous generation rival. The A321XLR also promises reduced Noise and NOx emissions, and like all its stablemates from Airbus, it can fly with up to 50 per cent SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).

Budapest-headquartered Wizz Air has a fleet of over 230 aircraft, all belonging to the A320 Family. The airline is awaiting the delivery of 295 Airbus jets. Airbus has over 500 orders for the A321XLR from operators worldwide. Aer Lingus and Iberia have taken delivery of their first iterations.
