What Do You Make Of The Audi Q5 Bold Edition?

One could team up the Black Styling Package with one of the five body colours available.

It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? Earlier this year, we saw Audi introduce Bold Edition derivatives of the Q3 (and Q3 Sportback) and the Q7 in India. The gap between the two has now been filled with the launch of the Q5 Bold Edition. Priced at INR 72.30 lakh, it costs INR 1.5 lakh more than the Technology variant on which it is based. Audi India says the Q5 Bold Edition has been conceived for the upcoming festive season. That means only a limited number of units will be available before it goes away.

Let’s get straight to the point – why the premium? That’s down to the Black Styling Package. What is it? Various sections of the SUV’s exterior sport a high-gloss black finish, including the grille, Audi logos at either end, window surrounds, ORVM caps and roof rails. Now couple those dark elements with one of the five colours in which the Bold Edition is available – Glacier White, Navarra Blue, Mythos Black, District Green and Manhattan Gray.

Here’s what Balbir Singh Dhillon, head of Audi India, said in an official statement:

Customers today want exclusivity, and with this special Bold Edition, they get a perfect blend of customisation and features. The Audi Q5 has always been among our best-seller models. We are confident this new Bold Edition will attract more buyers and brand fans.

Powering the Audi Q5 range in India is a 2.0-litre TFSI motor that outputs 265hp/370Nm. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission harnesses the oomph and transfers it to the wheels via the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. As a result, the SUV can hit 100kmph from nothing in 6.1 seconds and clock 240kmph at full stretch.

The list of features includes LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus, three-zone automatic climate control, Park Assist with 360-degree camera, six drive modes, eight airbags, wireless mobile charger and 30-colour ambient lighting.

In India, the Audi Q5 competes with the Volvo XC60, the BMW X3, the Discovery Sport and the Mercedes GLC.
