Rolex Novelties at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 – Part 1
New versions of the GMT-Master II, Day-Date and the Perpetual 1908
Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024: April 9th – April 15th, 2024.
Rolex has revealed six timepieces during Watches and Wonders Geneva, which was held during April 9th – April 15th, 2024.
In Part 1, we look at three of them. These include a latest version of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II available in both Oyster and Jubilee bracelet, four new versions of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date, and the Perpetual 1908 in a platinum case with guilloché dial.
Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II
Rolex’s iconic Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II is now available with a new bezel – a Cerachrom insert in grey and black ceramic, and available in both an Oyster and Jubilee bracelet.
Its black lacquer dial features 11-hour markers, crafted in 18K white gold, and coated in Rolex’s Chromalight. The hands are crafted in 18K white gold and coated with Chromalight. The 24-hour hand is in green-lacquer. The highly legible Chromalight emits a long-lasting blue glow luminescence.
Its functions are hours and minutes for local time, centre seconds, reference or dual time via the 24-hour hand, instantaneous date at 3 o’clock, and stop-seconds function for precise time setting.
It is powered by calibre 3285 – a Manufacture Rolex mechanical calibre with bidirectional self-winding via a perpetual rotor. It features Rolex innovations such as the Parachrom hairspring and Chronergy escapement. It has 31 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph or 4 Hz, and has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. It offers a precision of -2/+2 seconds/day after casing.
Its case is crafted in Oystersteel, has a diameter of 40 mm, thickness of 11.90 mm and lug width of 20 mm. Its Oystersteel middle case features a satin finish with polished sides. Its bidirectional rotatable bezel is crafted in Oystersteel. Its Oystersteel solid screw-down caseback features fine fluting. It has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a cyclops lens above the date with double anti-reflective coating. Its safety feature includes an integral crown guard. It is water resistant up to 100 metres or 330 feet.
Both the Oyster and Jubilee bracelets are crafted in Oystersteel, and feature polished and satin finishes, have an Oysterlock folding safety clasp in Oystersteel, and an Easylink comfort extension link (approximately 5 mm).
It is designated a Superlative Chronometer, as it is both COSC and Rolex certified, the latter after casing.

Oyster Perpetual Day-Date
Rolex’s legendary Day-Date is now available in four new versions. These include:
Slate Ombré, gloss, sunray finished dial in an 18K Everose gold case. Its dial features faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals and faceted index hour markers – crafted in 18K pink gold, and hands in 18K pink gold. Its case has a diameter of 40 mm, thickness of 12 mm and lug width of 21 mm. It features an 18K Everose gold fluted bezel. Its 18K Everose gold middle case features a polished finish, and the 18K Everose gold solid screw-down caseback features fine fluting. It has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a cyclops lens above the date with double anti-reflective coating. Perpetual 1908
Rolex’s Perpetual 1908, a classic hours-minutes-small seconds timepiece launched last year, is now available in a 950-platinum case featuring an ice blue, gloss, guilloché dial with a rice-grain motif.
On its gorgeous guillocé dial, the numerals ‘3’, ‘6’, ‘9’, its 11 faceted index hour markers, and hands are all crafted in 18K white gold.
Its functions are hours, minutes, small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock and stop-seconds function for precise time setting.
It is powered by calibre 7140 – a Manufacture Rolex mechanical calibre with bidirectional self-winding via a perpetual rotor. It features Rolex Côtes de Genèva finish, and its winding-rotor is crafted in 18K yellow gold. It features Rolex innovations such as the Syloxi hairspring in silicon, Paraflex shock absorbers and Chronergy escapement. It has 38 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph or 4 Hz, and has a power reserve of approximately 66 hours. It offers a precision of -2/+2 seconds/day after casing.
Its case is crafted in 950-platinum and has a diameter of 39 mm, thickness of 9.50 mm and lug width of 20 mm. It features a 950-platinum bezel that is domed and fluted. Its 950-platinum middle case features a polished finish. On the dial side it features a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire with anti-reflective coating. On the caseback side, it features 950-platinum and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The caseback is screw-down and features fine fluting. It is water resistant up to 50 metres or 165 feet.
It comes with a matt brown alligator leather strap, which features green calfskin lining, tone-on-tone stitching and a Dualclasp (a Rolex double folding clasp) crafted in 950-platinum.
