The Chevrolet Camaro says goodbye with the Collectors Edition
After a career spanning six generations, the muscle car will retire in early 2024
Bad times for muscle cars. Between the Ford Mustang, which is being outdone commercially by its dark Mach-E alter ego, and the Dodge Challenger, which will inevitably resort to electric propulsion, all eyes are on the Chevrolet Camaro, which could be the ultimate savior of the species. Unfortunately, its fate will be similar to that of the heroes of the greatest Greek tragedies.
A special series on three models
The Camaro will also say goodbye, taking with it 57 years of career, six generations and a memorable rivalry with the Mustang and Challenger. Naturally, a final limited edition called the Collectors Edition will take place before the end. This special edition can be combined with the RS, SS and ZL1 models. Few details are yet known about this special edition.
It is rumored that the vehicles concerned will pay tribute to the first generation of the muscle car born in 1966. This means that there may be some colour schemes inspired by the original car, as well as some nice nods to it, such as the stripes on the bonnet. And unlike many special series, the Collectors Edition is not just about nostalgia.
A technique that is revised on a special series, rare!
The car could thus receive small technical improvements with, in particular, a sharper chassis and reworked suspensions for the benefit of road handling. Steering and brakes will also be given special attention to improve both efficiency and driving pleasure. After production ends in early 2024, the Camaro name should not be consigned to the dustbin of history. Chevrolet plans to use it again for an entirely new model, possibly an electric SUV, once again!
