Hero launches Xpulse 200T 4v at Rs 1.25 lakh

The touring cousin of the smallest ADV in the country gets a much-needed update

The Hero Xpulse 200T was never as popular as its Adv cousin nor did it receive much love. Hero MotoCorp is looking to change that with by throwing in some updates and features, much like how the Xpulse 200 2v evolved into the 4v. The Xpulse 200T 4v is now priced at Rs 1.25 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. The price difference in other states is huge, for example, the bike is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi and Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The 200T gets the same 199.6cc air cooled engine as its ADV cousin and so the power and torque figures are identical at 18.9bhp and 17.3Nm. It gets the same features as the Xpulse 200 4v like the single channel ABS, Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Visually there is no mistaking the ADV and the tourer, as the 200T has a more conventional styling. It has neo-retro touches like the round LED headlamp unit, wide handlebars, and a long wheelbase. Differentiating factors from the ADV are the 17-inch alloy wheels with road biased tyres (130mm wide rear tyre), reduced ground clearance (175mm), a lower saddle height, a regular mudguard for the front, a conventional looking grab rail at the back and the exhaust unit that now sits lower. The red stitching on the seat is a nice touch and you get two tone paint schemes in three colour options – sports red, funk lime yellow and matte shield gold. My favorite is the funk lime yellow paint scheme, as it stands out.

Where Hero has scored is on the pricing front, making the 200T a value for money product. You get a 200cc bike for the same price at which some 160cc bikes are priced and it’s not like Hero has skimped on features. The base Apache RTR 160 4v with rear drum brake is priced at Rs 1.21 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 is priced at Rs 1.25 lakh ex-showroom. The Suzuki Gixxer is priced at Rs 1.34 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Though these bikes have their own pros and cons, the Xpulse 200T 4v is an interesting proposition to consider if you are in the market for a 200cc bike.
