We Now Have An Urus S

It replaces the standard Urus to sit alongside the recently launched Performante variant.

Lamborghini has unveiled “the successor to the original Urus”. It’s called the Urus S. The updated SUV features a more powerful engine along with a refreshed design inside and out. And it sits alongside the recently launched Performante variant in the SUV’s portfolio.

The Urus S borrows the powertrain from the Performante. That means the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 punches out 657bhp and 850Nm of peak torque. The oomph goes via an 8-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels. With the extra punch over the original version, the Urus S is quicker and can hit 100kmph and 200kmph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds and 12.5 seconds, respectively. At full stretch, the speedometer will show 305kmph, while the braking distance from 100kmph to zero is 33.7 metres. Part of the renewed package is a retuned exhaust system which, as per Lamborghini, delivers “a more distinct sound at start-up and a sharper note in each drive mode”.

The Urus S has four drive modes – Strada, Sport, Corsa and Ego. Engaging each one does something different to the throttle response, the adaptive air suspension and the gearbox. Apart from those, there are three off-road drive selectors – Terra, Neve and Sabbia. Changing those makes adjustments to the torque delivery and the body balancing acts.

To freshen things up in the design department, the Urus S boasts new front and rear bumpers, a reprofiled grille, new wheel designs ranging between 21 and 23 inches, a new twin-pipe exhaust design and a carbon fibre-painted bonnet with matt black air vents. Optionally, you can have those vents finished in gloss black, body colour or in shiny or matt carbon fibre. Another option worth considering is the visible carbon fibre roof.

Inside the cabin, the Urus S comes with new colour and trim finishes. The new dual-tone Sportivo and Sophisticated options rope in the stitching pattern from the Urus Performante. While the former delivers “a more discreet and stylish” ambience, the latter dials in new contrast colour options in conjunction with new Blu Leandro and Verde Aura shades teaming up with cream, tan and brown finishes. On the features front, the Urus S comes with connected navigation and several in-car control services, such as Remote Park via the Lamborghini Unica App.

And of course, Lambo’s Ad Personam division is always available for those wanting to customise their Italian bull. As for the price, the Urus S starts at 195,538 euros, excluding tax.
