Audi India Launches The New Audi Q3

The highly anticipated SUV is available in two variants – Premium Plus and Technology.

After opening the bookings counter for the all-new Q3 earlier this month, Audi India has now announced the prices. The SUV is available in two variants – Premium Plus and Technology. While the former costs INR 44.89 lakh, the latter demands INR 50.39 lakh. Simple math reveals that the Technology variant is INR 5.50 lakh dearer than the entry-level Premium Plus derivative.

Regardless of which Q3 iteration you settle for, you’ll get the same powertrain. It comprises a 2.0-litre TFSI engine that pumps out 190hp/320Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed DSG unit that routes the oomph to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. As per the carmaker, the new Q3 can hit 100kmph from nothing in 7.3 seconds and reach 222kmph at full stretch. In case you’re wondering, the same engine-transmission combination is also available in other models from VW Group, including the Audi Q2 and Audi A4.

As standard, the second-gen Audi Q3 comes with features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system and Hill Start Assist. The same list also includes a rear-view camera, cruise control, heated and auto-dimming and folding ORVMs, Audi Smartphone Interface and power-adjustable front seats.

To justify the price difference, the Technology variant ropes in extra features. The list includes Audi’s MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch, Audi Drive Select, Virtual Cockpit Plus, 30-colour ambient lighting, wireless mobile charging, a 10-speaker 180-watt sound system, powered tailgate with gesture control and Comfort Key. And as that final kicker, the new Q3 has a 530-litre luggage space – the largest in the segment.

Deliveries of the new Q3 will start towards the end of the year. In India, the new Q3 will be Audi’s answer to the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Volvo XC40. Of course, that’s some formidable competition. But then, Audi does have its plusses. For instance, the first 500 customers will get a 3-year/50,000km Comprehensive Service Value Package and a 5-year Extended Warranty. Also, I think the Audi Q3 is well priced, considering where the Q2 ends. What are you thinking?
