Audi India Launches The New A8 L

The refreshed limousine arrives in a petrol-only avatar, packing a turbocharged V6 under the bonnet.

Bookings for the new Audi A8 L opened in May 2022, with the minimum token amount set at INR 10 lakh. Now, however, after just over 2 months, Audi India launched the saloon in question. The refreshed Luxo barge starts at INR 1.29 crore and comes with the same 55 TFSI Quattro tag as the pre-facelift model. Also, like the previous version, the new one arrives in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

For the midlife makeover, Audi has given the A8 L revised front fascia, new wheels and a tweaked rear end. In addition, the limousine packs upgraded features, including the latest version of Audi’s infotainment platform. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid tech. The powerplant offers 335bhp and a peak torque of 500Nm, which is harnessed by an 8-speed automatic transmission. And to ensure little grunt goes to waste, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system is also in the mix. As a result, the A8 L can hit 100kmph from nothing in 5.7 seconds and reach 250kmph flat out (electronically limited).

As you’d expect, the list of features is exhaustive. It includes Digital Matrix LED headlights, Predictive Air Suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof. The list also includes four-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.6-inch touchscreen display for other car functions, ambient lighting and powered seats with memory functions. And it goes on, with a Bang & Olufsen sound system, powered doors, a 360-degree camera and loads of safety and assistance systems.

So, there you have it. Audi India has added a fresh spark to the world of luxury limousines. That’s the segment where models such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and the Lexus LS reside. And let’s not forget the Porsche Panamera. That might not be as roomy as the others mentioned before, but it surely will be the choice for someone who likes to drive more than being a passenger.
