Mercedes-Benz has introduced numerous updates to the 2025 S-Class, setting new standards for conditionally automated driving in the luxury segment. Personalisation options have been enhanced with new colour and material gradations, and the infotainment system now responds more intelligently to its users.
DRIVE PILOT can now operate at speeds up to 95 kmph in Germany in regular traffic, up from 60 kmph in traffic jams. This allows customers to activate conditionally automated driving more frequently and for extended periods, enabling them to make better use of their time on the road. Drivers are legally permitted to engage in other activities at the same time in this mode, such as watching movies, reading newspapers, working, or even relaxing, while the S-Class drives are conditionally automated.
The system utilises more than 35 sensors, including cameras, radar, ultrasonic sensors, and LiDAR technology for added safety. The system is always able to return control to the driver when needed. If the driver is unresponsive, DRIVE PILOT safely and accurately performs an emergency stop.
Mercedes-Benz is enhancing the digital experience in the S-Class with a range of new over-the-air digital features available for the MBUX infotainment system. These features improve navigation and enhance the capabilities of the AI-powered voice assistant.
One of the most notable new features is the integration of ChatGPT with the voice assistant via the Microsoft Azure OpenAI service. Drivers can receive accurate and up-to-date answers to various general questions via Microsoft Bing, engage in contextually informed conversations, and continue driving simultaneously. Navigation has also been improved by displaying maps with satellite imagery from Google.
As for entertainment options, the Entertainment Package Plus is now available through the Mercedes-Benz Store. It allows customers to access major streaming services, such as YouTube Web App or Sony Pictures Entertainment’s RIDEVU video streaming service, directly from inside the vehicle. Rear passengers in the S-Class can enjoy an exclusive cinematic experience with RIDEVU, which offers a rich selection of movies and series for unparallelled entertainment on the go.
The S-Class now offers more excellent opportunities to express individuality with more than 50 new MANUFAKTUR colours and 25 additional interior design options. From meticulously handcrafted textiles to luxurious leather combinations and exquisite wood inlays, owners can personalise their vehicles to suit their unique preferences.
