The Purity Tantonyx features an onyx dial, a case made from ethically sourced tantalum, and a La Joux-Perret manual winding movement. The Purity Tantonyx “embodies the perfect balance of luxury and resilience.”

Dial

Silvered “Vyntage” is applied on the dial at 12 o’clock.

“The dark hue and subtle sheen of the onyx, paired with a tone-on-tone counter, creates a harmonious backdrop for the silvered mountain shape polished hands, which come alive with Super Luminova green light, ensuring visibility even in the darkest of settings.”

Case and Strap

Case is made from ethically sourced tantalum.

“Tantalum, a rare metal known for its durability and exceptional resistance to corrosion, embodies the enduring spirit of time itself. Its unique ability to withstand extreme temperatures and hypoallergenic nature make it an ideal choice for those seeking both elegance and practicality.”

“Working with tantalum reinforces the brand’s vision to continue to develop timepieces, requiring specialised techniques and embracing unique designs. This complexity adds to the craftsmanship behind the watch, showcasing the skill and precision involved in its creation. Additionally, tantalum’s distinctive, deep blue-grey hue offers a captivating contrast to traditional watch materials, ensuring this timepiece is as visually striking as it is resilient.”

Case diameter 39 mm.

Movement

Powered by La Joux-Perret (LJP) 7380, a manual winding movement. It drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds.

Manufacture La-Joux Perret SA is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. It is owned by Japan’s Citizen Group. Manufacture La-Joux Perret SA owns the Swiss watch brand Angelus and provides movements for Arnold & Son and Frédérique Constant, the latter two also owned by Citizen Group.

Movement finishing features “polished sides at the balance-cock and a grey palladium finish.”

Our Thoughts

With its onyx dial, the Purity Tantonyx is a minimalistic expression of a three-hand watch. Its tantalum case highlights the brand’s ability to push forward and innovate. Tantalum is not an easy material to work with. (The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu’s case is made from tantalum. It is one of the most sought after three-hand watches in the world.) Its dependable and robust La Joux-Perret movement will be serviceable by a competent watchmaker worldwide.

The Purity Tantonyx is a versatile watch, further emphasised by its two straps, one formal and one casual, and a quick release system. Aftermarket straps, of different materials and certain colours, will look great on the Purity Tantonyx. It is perfect in a casual and corporate setting and will look great with a tuxedo.
