Vyntage Horology – the UAE based independent luxury timepiece brand – has unveiled the Monograph Dawn and Purity Dusk. Both are the newest additions to Vyntage Horology’s Monograph and Purity collection.

Monograph Dawn

“Inspired by the city’s essence, ‘Dawn’ marks a new chapter in urban elegance. This 40mm masterpiece features a striking Salmon hammered dial with and hand-applied Roman numerals.”

Functions

The Vyntage Horology Monograph Dawn’s functions include:

– Central hours and minutes.

– Small seconds at 9 o’clock subdial.

– 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock subdial.

– Central 60-seconds chronograph counter.

– Both the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and 60-seconds central chronograph are activated by the mono-pusher at 2 o’clock.

– Stop seconds for accurate time setting.

Dial

The Vyntage Horology Monograph Dawn’s dial features include:

– It features a salmon hammered dial.

– Both the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock and 30-minute counter subdial at 3 o’clock are recessed into the dial. They feature Arabic numerals in black.

– The 10 Roman numeral hour-markers are hand applied on the dial.

– Encircling the outer dial are dots, indicating minutes. Each dot is black, except for each 5th minute, which is silver in colour.

– “VYNTAGE” is displayed at 12 o’clock, and “SWISS MADE” discreetly at 6 o’clock.

Case and Strap

The Vyntage Horology Monograph Dawn’s case and strap features include:

– Its case is made from stainless steel 904L.

– Its case diameter is 40 mm and case thickness is 13.50 mm (not including crystals on both sides) and 14.20 mm (including crystals on both sides).

– On its dial side, it features a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside.

– On its caseback side, it features a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside.

– The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock and mono-pusher to active the chronograph at 2 o’clock.

– It is water resistant up to 50 metres or 5 ATM.

– It comes with a grey calf leather strap with salmon side stitch fitted on the timepiece. It features a blue aquatic lining on its reverse. It is fitted to a stainless steel 904L buckle – 18 mm, brushed and polished, with “VYNTAGE” engraving.

– An additional black matt rubber strap is provided, fitted to a stainless steel 904L buckle – 18 mm, brushed and polished.

– An easy release spring bar enables the wearer to change the strap.

Movement

The Vyntage Horology Monograph Dawn’s movement features include:

– It is powered by a Swiss Made manual winding chronograph movement.

– It powers the hours, minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock, 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 60-seconds central chronograph and stop seconds.

– The chronograph is cam-actuated by the mono-pusher at 2 o’clock.

– It has a diameter of 30.40 mm.

– It has a height of 7.00 mm.

– It has 20 jewels.

– It beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph or 4 Hz.

– It has a power reserve of 48 hours.

– The movement features a Incabloc shock protection device.

– Movement finishing includes Geneva stripes and circular graining.

Purity Dusk

The Vyntage Horology Purity Dusk’s dial features include:

– It features a green smoked dial with hammered effect.

– The small seconds subdial between 7 and 8 o’clock is recessed into the dial. It features 4 baton markers in silver at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock.

– The 13 “silvered domed” shaped hour markers (2 for 12 o’clock) are hand applied on the dial.

– “VYNTAGE” is displayed at 12 o’clock, and “SWISS MADE” discreetly at 6 o’clock.

Case and Strap

– Its case is made from stainless steel 904L.

– Its case diameter is 39 mm and case thickness is 9.20 mm (not including crystals on both sides) and 10.80 mm (including crystals on both sides).

– On its dial side, it features a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside.

– On its caseback side, it features a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside.

– The crown is positioned at 4 o’clock.

– It comes with a purple curved calf leather strap with beige side stitch fitted on the timepiece. It features a blue aquatic lining on its reverse. It is fitted to a stainless steel 904L buckle – 18 mm, brushed and polished, with “VYNTAGE” engraving.

Our Thoughts

Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons is not the first luxury timepiece and jewellery retailer to create their own timepieces. Others have done so, whether they have created their own timepieces or acquired existing brands. Often retailers have outsourced a timepiece and put their name on the dial. Or jewellers have created gem set versions, exorbitantly priced, with their name on the dial. Examples of retailers acquiring timepiece brands include Singapore’s The Hour Glass buying Daniel Roth (1994) and Gerald Genta (1996), and more recently US based WatchBox’s acquisition of De Bethune in 2021. 

Starting a timepiece brand is not easy, as navigating the labyrinth of watchmaking suppliers and specialists for dials, hands, cases, sapphire crystals, movements, components, straps, and buckles, etc. presents all sorts of challenges. This has not prevented Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons from creating their own timepieces. Rather, they have created their own timepiece brand. An extraordinary achievement, alongside their core business of timepiece and jewellery retail. Judging by images and supporting information, both the Monograph Dawn and Purity Dusk display an abundance of thought in their design, and exemplary attention to detail and execution.
