Following the announcement of an expansion of its codeshare partnership with airBaltic last month, Turkish Airlines has now confirmed another development in this area. The flag carrier of Turkey has inked a codeshare agreement with South Africa-based carrier Airlink. Scheduled to go live on August 1, 2025, the partnership will strengthen the Turkish carrier’s connectivity and presence in South Africa and the region.
Codeshare Details
According to the paperwork, Turkish Airlines will print its designator code, “TK,” on flights operated by Airlink to “a wide range” of South African and regional destinations via Cape Town and Johannesburg. In other words, passengers travelling to either of the above-mentioned destinations in South Africa with Turkish Airlines do not need to purchase an extra ticket to reach their desired destination within the country or in the region. The single-ticket solution will surely make the journey more convenient.
What Senior Officials Said:
Turkish Airlines’ Chief Investment & Strategy Officer, Levent Konukcu, says this partnership with Airlink will bring convenience to passengers, strengthen cultural and tourism ties, and yield benefits for both airlines from a commercial perspective.
De Villiers Engelbrecht, CEO of Airlink, believes that this agreement with Turkish Airlines could be a stepping stone to deepen ties between the two carriers.
