Bentley Rancho Mirage has received the first Ombre by Mulliner Collection, comprising three Bentley models that reflect the dual-personality artistry that characterises every Bentley. Ombre refers to the gradual blending of one colour with another, creating a smooth transition from light to dark.
Mulliner produced the collection in early 2025 and debuted on a Continental GT – a paint job that fades from topaz to Windsor Blue – as part of Bentley’s participation in The Quail, during Monterey Car Week.
On the outside, to complement each car’s paint scheme, 22-inch, ten-spoke alloy wheels are specially designed with a paint finish that mirrors the car’s exterior, featuring different colours on the front and rear.
Inside, each car’s front cabin features custom-designed leather for the front seats, steering wheel, and instrument panel, matching the paintwork on the front half of the vehicle. Similarly, the rear cabin mirrors the matching exterior paint, with custom-designed leather for the seats and doors. Attention to detail is further enhanced by the trim and stitching on the seats, which are accented with paint colours that match each model. The interior surfaces also have a tactile feel, featuring Beluga satin wood veneers on the centre console, instrument panel, and door sills, which are visible when the doors are opened.
Inspired by the colours of nature, each colour pair was carefully selected to create a smooth, gradual transition between shades, ensuring harmony between the two without introducing a third colour.
The Continental GTC Speed, with its gradient from luminous gold to fiery orange, evokes the rich colours of Monument Valley and the Painted Desert—landscapes defined by shifting light and layers of ochre and red sandstone. The interior features a bespoke luminous gold leather front half and an orange rear half, with subtle orange accents and piping to highlight the contrasting stitching.
The Continental GT Speed, with its vibrant topaz to deep Windsor Blue colour palette, is inspired by the open coastal roads around Monterey, its deep blue hues reflecting the movement and energy of the Pacific Ocean. The interior mirrors the exterior, with a vibrant topaz leather front half and a deep ocean blue rear half, accented with Dragonfly trim on the seat edges and stitching.
The Flying Spur Speed, with its colour shift from metallic tungsten to garnet, evokes the night sky of Southern California. The interior design reflects this contrast, with Purpoise in the front half and Anthracite in the rear. A brighter Stratos hue is used to highlight the stitching, seat trim, and badge embroidery. The interplay of light and shadow underscores the car’s dual nature.
The ombré paintwork process takes approximately 60 hours and is applied by hand by two highly skilled specialists at the Bentley Dream factory in Crewe, England. The colour fades across the centre of the car, through the doors, sills, and roof. To ensure perfect bodywork, the paint is applied with meticulous care in multiple stages to achieve the ombré effect.
