The demanding Baku City Circuit has prompted several Formula 1 teams to roll out circuit-specific upgrades for this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix. With its long straights, heavy braking zones and close barriers, the street track puts unique stresses on brakes and aerodynamic balance and four teams have responded with fresh parts.
Ferrari: Larger Front Brake Ducts
Ferrari has introduced larger, Baku-specific front brake ducts on the SF-25 to improve cooling under the circuit’s intense braking demands. The team hopes this adjustment will aid consistency over the race distance while managing tyre temperatures more effectively.
Red Bull Racing: Reprofiled Rear-Wheel Wing Assembly
Red Bull’s RB21 features a small but noteworthy update: a reprofiled wing assembly inboard of the rear wheels. The change increases local camber to generate more local load, helping the car maintain stability at high speed without sacrificing efficiency on the long straights.
Mercedes: Revised Low-Downforce Front Wing
Mercedes has brought a tweaked low-downforce front wing to Baku. The updated design features a reduced flap chord, dropping local load to complement better the team’s low-downforce rear wing — a move aimed at improving balance and straight-line speed on the circuit’s lengthy flat-out sections.
Racing Bulls: Updated Brake Ducts
Racing Bulls also arrive with circuit-specific upgrades. The team has fitted new front and rear brake ducts tailored to cope with Baku’s severe braking zones, where managing temperatures and avoiding fade will be critical.
With all four teams bringing these adjustments, Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race will reveal how well each package adapts to Baku’s unique mix of slow corners and flat-out blasts.
