SOME UNKNOWN FEATURES OF YEZDI CLASSIC

A list of really useful technology which came with the bike in 97′

Yezdi’s & Jawa’s were designed by men with pencil behind their ear & these men belonged to Czech region. These engineers were quite clever & knew how to mend safety & technology without compromising on style. They were just like Italians when it comes to styling & sound.

For instance the single cylinder cuts into twin exhausts. Why? I don’t know, but it looks so stylish & sounds a bit strange or as I would like to call it Familiar Stranger!!!…. Ummmm let me explain it: You see when the engine complete its cycle in 2strokes the exhaust gas is released in twin ports with some unburned fuel & this makes it sound like no other or in other words FANTASTIC!! When you twist the throttle an orchestra is played with your wrist, which is Strange yet Familiar.

SPEEDOMETER CABLE:

The cable of speedometer runs into the engine rather than the wheel. It measures the speed directly from the piston movement, hence it is more accurate.

Also as the cable runs into the engine, the chances of breakage is limited.

AUTO CLUTCH:

Now this feature is really handy when your clutch cable snaps. The gear lever turns itself into clutch. How? I don’t know, magic maybe? But I do know how to engage it.

When you shift the gear into 1st just hold the gear lever after shifting & that engages your auto clutch, now slowly release the gear lever & the bike will start to crawl forward.

So the gear lever has 3 functions: it is your kick starter, it shift gears & works as a clutch too.

SAME SIZE WHEEL FOR COMFORT FEEL:

If you observe you will notice that the front wheel has got some empty space behind that chrome plate hub & that’s where the chain sprocket fits when you put the exact wheel at the back. I know it isn’t amusing but its a handy thing when one wheel runs out of grip. It also gives bike a straight & stable stance while riding over bumps.

VERDICT:

It is astonishing to agree that it has so much useful features without using any computer chip. Its all mechanical, reliable, fixable & analogue. We had this very motorcycle for almost 27yrs & it sure has its flaws like the spark plug burns very often, the light is a bit dim at night & it drinks petrol like a thirsty athlete. But other than that, the YEZDI has no such downsides to point out. Anyone with reasonable common sense can understand its mechanics & can fix it too.
