Skoda Launches New Scala And Kamiq In The Middle East

The refreshed models house a 1.0-litre TSI motor and a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The Scala and Kamiq compact cars received their midlife updates last year. Skoda Middle East has now introduced them both in the region. In addition to cosmetic tweaks, which make both models look sharper, they pack more features and a refined and economical powertrain. Prices for the new Skoda Scala and Skoda Kamiq start at USD 21,967 and USD 22,312 (both including 5 per cent VAT), respectively.

Both models come with LED-powered headlights and taillights as standard. However, there is an option to upgrade to Matrix headlights, which offer better visibility during darker hours and prevent glare for oncoming traffic. For the first time, an electric boot lid is available, which can be operated using a waving foot under the rear bumper.

The new Skoda Kamiq’s features list includes an 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (a 9.2-inch system available as an upgrade), an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster (a 10.25-inch display is also on offer), and an optional panoramic sunroof. Both cars pack up to five USB-C ports and cleverly thought-out spaces for those knick-knacks.

Nine colour options are available for both models, depending on the variant and the market. The same holds for alloy wheels, which range from 16 to 18 inches in diameter. Two of the 18-inch options feature an all-new design. The list of safety and assistance systems comprises cruise control with a speed limiter, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and multiple airbags. Optional features such as Predictive Cruise Control, Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitor and Lane Assist are also available.

The new Scala and Kamiq are propelled by a 1.0-litre TSI motor that produces 114hp. A 7-speed automatic gearbox harnesses the oomph effectively and feeds it to the front wheels. According to the brand, the fuel efficiency is 5.5l/100km (combined). Expect both models to hit dealerships across the region in October 2024.
