Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Boosts Green Energy Output

At its Chakan plant, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. (SAVWIPL) has inaugurated one of India’s largest solar-power rooftop facilities in the automotive industry. It can produce 18.5MW of green electricity, which translates to about 26.6 million kWh of energy production per year. It will help the company reduce its dependence on non-renewable energy and move closer to the Group’s global carbon neutrality target at all its sites by 2030. SAVWIPL claims that courtesy of the enhanced solar-power rooftop, there will be a reduction in CO2 emissions by 28 per cent annually. Moreover, Green Energy will now cover up to 30 per cent of the plant’s total electricity consumption.
