What is the new route?
SalamAir will operate a Muscat–Abha service starting December 16, 2025. Tickets are already on sale, with Lite fares from 29.99 OMR. The airline has scheduled four direct weekly connections between Muscat and Abha.
Why Abha?
Abha is a popular highland destination in Saudi Arabia, known for its cooler mountain climate, lush green landscapes, and cultural sites. Often called the “City of Fog” and the Kingdom’s summer capital, it attracts leisure travellers seeking a different climate and scenery.
How does this fit SalamAir’s strategy?
The route reinforces SalamAir’s position as Oman’s low-cost carrier and supports its 2025 expansion. It follows a strong performance this year and the arrival of the airline’s 15th aircraft, the Airbus A321neo “Barr Al-Hikman”. Abha is the airline’s fifth destination in Saudi Arabia, joining Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina and Dammam.
What connectivity will passengers get?
Beyond direct services, the Muscat–Abha route will connect to SalamAir’s broader network across the GCC, the Indian subcontinent, and Salalah, offering convenient one-stop options for onward travel.
SalamAir says the launch strengthens regional air links, supports tourism and trade, and aligns with Oman’s plans to develop aviation and tourism under Oman Vision 2040.
