Ressence launches the new Type 5 L
The Ressence Type 5 gets luminescent treatment.
Ressence, the innovative Belgian timepiece brand, has just unveiled the Type 5 L, a luminescent version of the Type 5.

Movement
The Ressence Type 5 L is powered by the “Patented ROCS 5 – Ressence Orbital Convex System – module driven by the minute axle of a customized 2824/2 calibre.” Its features include:
– ROCS 5 comprises of 142 components, which include the main and sub discs. (Image 1 and 2 above.)
– Winding and time setting is operated via the caseback, with the Ressence Compression Lock System (RCLS). The caseback performs the function of the crown. Turning the caseback clockwise winds the timepiece, and turning the caseback in both directions sets the time. Once time is set, the movement’s automatic rotor will continue to wind the timepiece while worn on the wrist.
– It features Magnetic Transmission. Since the ROCS is separated from the rest of the timepiece, as it is suspended in oil, Ressence developed a unique magnetic transmission system. “Several micro magnets, connected to each other, are positioned inside the upper half and lower half. That way the minute information can be transmitted from the base calibre to the ROCS even if the magnets are separated by a titanium grade membrane.” (Image 3 and 4 above.)
– It features a Compensating Bellow System, “a self-equilibrating pressure-balance system” which compensates for the expansion and contraction of the oil. (Image 5 and 6 above.)
– It features a self-winding rotor.
– It has 41 jewels, 25 gears and 3 ball bearings.
– It beats a frequency of 28,800 vph or 4 Hz.
– It has a power reserve of 36 hours.
Dial
The Ressence Type 5 L’s dial features include:
– It features a convex Grade 5 titanium dial, 125 mm in radius.
– It features three eccentric biaxial satellites, inclined at 3° for the hours, and 4.75° for the thermal gauge and runner.
– Indications are engraved.
– The dial is entirely filled with blue and green Super-Luminova®.
Case
The Ressence Type 5 L’s case features include:
– Its case is made of Grade 5 titanium.
– It features 2 separate sealed chambers with the upper chamber filled with 3.57 ml of oil. “The luminous enhancement of the Type 5 L is paired to the Ressence oil-filled upper chamber, a hallmark of every Type 5. The oil cancels out light refraction and makes the watch readable from any angle, providing a clear and crisp display that is essential for divers. The extra luminescent dial only further boosts this legibility.”
– On both the dial and caseback side, it features a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside.
– It features a unidirectional bezel “with an easy-to-grip tactile design, allowing for precise and reliable adjustments.” An important feature for divers for whom tracking immersion time is critical.
– Ressence Compression Lock System (RCLS) (described above) enables the wearer to lock the compression gasket to make the timepiece waterproof.
– It has a case diameter of 46 mm and a case thickness of 15.50 mm.
– It has a water resistance of 10 ATM or 100 metres (ISO Certified). The Type L qualifies for the stringent ISO 6425 standards, which are required for underwater exploration, while obeying the utmost safety and reliability standards.
Buckle and Strap
The Ressence Type 5 L comes with the following straps and buckle:
– It comes with a grey fabric strap featuring yellow leather lining (24/22 mm) and a blue rubber strap (24/22 mm).
