Range Rover Velar Autobiography Launched In India

Land Rover has launched the new Autobiography variant of the Range Rover Velar in India. Positioned as the flagship of the Velar range, the Autobiography trim enhances the model with premium interior materials, refined styling, and a choice of petrol and diesel powertrains.

With prices starting at INR 89.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the Velar Autobiography enters the Indian market as a compelling option for buyers looking for modern Range Rover luxury in a sleek, road-focused package.

Engine and Performance

The Range Rover Velar Autobiography is available with two engine options in India. The petrol variant, known as the P250, features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine from Land Rover’s Ingenium family. It produces 246hp and 365Nm.

The diesel alternative is the D200, also a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit, but this one’s paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It delivers 201hp and 430Nm, offering a strong low-end and better fuel efficiency.

Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and come standard with Land Rover’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The SUV is also equipped with electronic air suspension and adaptive dynamics, improving the ride quality and stability across varied driving conditions.

Driver assistance features include a 3D Surround Camera, Terrain Response 2 for automatic terrain adjustment, Wade Sensing for monitoring water depth, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The electronic suspension adapts on the fly, keeping the vehicle balanced and composed on everything from expressways to rough terrain.

Exterior Design

The Velar Autobiography maintains the Velar’s familiar design language but adds unique styling details to elevate its presence. The signature floating roof and flush door handles remain, while Pixel LED headlights with adaptive beam control give the front end a sharper, more modern look.

This variant gets 20-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels and Burnished Copper accents on the bumper inserts and side vents. A black contrast roof enhances the silhouette, and a panoramic sunroof comes standard.

Interior and Comfort

Inside, the Autobiography trim delivers a full upgrade in luxury. The cabin is finished in Windsor Leather, covering the seats, dashboard, and door panels. The front seats offer 20-way electric adjustment with massage, heating, cooling, and memory functions. Soft suede cloth lines the roof, while Shadow Grey Ash veneer adds a touch of natural texture.

Rear passengers literally sit in the lap of luxury with power-recline seats, ambient lighting, and excellent legroom. Four-zone climate control and the Cabin Air Purification Plus system ensure clean air and consistent comfort for all occupants, regardless of the season or location.

Technology and Features

Land Rover equips the Velar Autobiography with its latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, and it supports wireless software updates. Uplifting the in-cabin experience is the car’s premium audio system from Meridian. Other features include wireless phone chargers, AI assistance, optional rear-seat entertainment, and more.

Velar Dynamic SE Variant

Alongside the Autobiography, Land Rover continues to offer the Velar in the Dynamic SE trim. Powered by the same P250 petrol engine, this variant features a fixed panoramic roof, LED headlights with signature DRLs, 14-way powered front seats, and the standard Meridian audio. It starts at INR 84.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and offers many of the same design cues in a more accessible package.
