Porsche is rapidly expanding its electric vehicle offerings with the introduction of the new Macan 4S, a high-performance variant that slots between the base Macan and the sportier Macan Turbo. This addition effectively doubles the size of the Macan’s all-electric model range, catering to a wider range of driver preferences.
Focus on Efficiency and Range
The core Macan model, introduced earlier in 2024, prioritizes efficiency and range. It utilizes a single rear-wheel-drive motor powered by a high-voltage battery with a 100 kWh capacity. This configuration keeps the weight down, contributing to an impressive combined WLTP range of up to 641 kilometres.
Introducing the Macan 4S: Power and Performance
The Macan 4S takes the electric Macan experience to a whole new level. Equipped with a new rear-axle motor and a powerful 600-amp SiC pulse inverter, it delivers a significant power boost. When combined with the front-axle motor, the 4S produces a system output of 330 kW (448 PS), with a short burst capability reaching up to 380 kW (516 PS) using Launch Control. This translates to a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. Standard PASM and Enhanced Chassis Options
The Macan 4S comes standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for a dynamic and comfortable driving experience. Additionally, Porsche offers an array of optional chassis upgrades, including adaptive air suspension with levelling and height adjustment, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and rear-axle steering. These features further elevate the car’s handling capabilities and overall driving pleasure.
Inheriting the Best of Macan DNA
The new Macan models inherit the sleek and timeless design language that characterizes the second generation of the Macan. The aerodynamically optimized body boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.25, contributing to efficient energy use. The 800-volt architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) allows for DC fast charging at speeds of up to 270 kW, significantly reducing charging times. At a suitable fast-charging station, the high-voltage battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 21 minutes.
New Personalization Options
Porsche is expanding the customization options for the Macan lineup. A new exterior colour, Slate Grey Neo, is now available for all models. The wheel portfolio welcomes the addition of a stylish 20-inch Macan S wheel. For those who value off-road capability, an optional off-road design package is available. This package enhances the car’s ability to handle rough terrain and steep inclines with an increased approach angle and additional ground clearance. The package also includes unique visual elements like a Vesuvius Grey front bumper and matching side skirts, diffuser panels, and roof rails.
