First launched two years ago, the Tonda PF Skeleton in Slate Green joins the model lineup which includes versions in 950 platinum with a Milano Blue dial, 18K rose gold with a graphite colour dial, and stainless steel / 950 platinum with a graphite colour dial.

Key Features

Functions

Hours and minutes.

Dial

“It’s open worked dial, in a luminous green inspired by Le Corbusier’s architectural palette, captures light and reveals every detail of the movement.”

Image: A beautiful open worked green dial. Notice the sandblasted and vertical satin-finish, and the open worked barrel between 9 and 10 o’clock. If you look closely, part of the winding mechanism (right), and gear train (centre) are visible. Beautiful details all around, such as the partially suspended hour-markers and the subtle minute-scale on the outer dial.

Slate green open worked dial. Skeletonised and delta shaped hour and minute hands and applied hour-markers are made from rhodium plated 18K gold.

Movement

Image: The skeletonised automatic winding rotor is made from 22K white gold and is polished and sandblasted. Notice the balance wheel tucked away between 7 and 8 o’clock (top left on image). Movement finishing includes satin-finished open worked bridges with bevelled edges.

Powered by PF777, a manufacture automatic movement that drives the hours and minutes.

Diameter: 30 mm or 13 1/4 lignes. Thickness: 3.90 mm. Parts: 192. Jewels: 29. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 60 hours.

Case

Image: I love how the brand incorporates stainless steel (case and bracelet) with platinum (bezel). Notice the brand’s logo embossed on the screwed-in crown. My friends who own Parmigiani Fleurier watches have mentioned that their bracelets are among the best in the industry.

The case is made from polished and satin-finished stainless steel. The knurled bezel – a signature design element of the brand – is made from 950 platinum.

Diameter: 40 mm. Thickness: 8.50 mm. Crown diameter: 4.30 mm. Dial side features an ARunic anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Caseback features a sapphire crystal. Water resistant up to 100 metres. The bracelet is made from polished and satin-finished stainless steel and is fitted to a stained steel folding clasp.

Our Thoughts

Image: Discreet elegance with visual mechanical symphony. Horology and craftsmanship at an extremely high level. The skeletonised hour and minute hands create lightness yet have immense presence.

I was fortunate to handle the Tonda PF Skeleton in Slate Green during Watches and Wonders Geneva in early April. It is a beautiful interpretation of an open worked dial watch. A fantastic addition to a watch collection, it is for sophisticated collectors who are confident in their choices.

Recently we featured the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Rose Gold Sandstone, another example of the brand’s ability in crafting watches that evoke a luxurious and relaxed vibe. The Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante Stainless Steel Verzasca is another example of a green dial watch (albeit a different hue) from the brand.
