Panerai introduces the Submersible Elux Lab-ID PAM01800

Panerai has just unveiled the Submersible Elux Lab-ID PAM01800, a result of 8 years of Panerai’s Research & Development at their manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It is a concept watch that highlights Panerai’s innovations owing to 4 “dedicated patent applications.”  These include:

– Ti-Ceramitech™ material for case, bezel and caseback. Ti-Ceramitech™ is an innovative material, which is light yet tougher than ceramic.

– Bezel light System.

– Hands light systems. (Patent granted.)

– Pusher protection system. (Patent granted.)

The Submersible Elux Lab-ID is a homage to “Panerai’s history of advanced luminescence, drawing from our significant patent from 1966.”  Elux is short for “electroluminescence,” “a crucial technology for the Italian Navy, which valued its reliability and efficiency for optimal lighting conditions.”

The Submersible Elux Lab-ID’s key feature is luminescence and visibility in all light conditions, made possible by the Power Light function – based on “a full mechanical energy storage system” – which is activated on demand. By opening the patented pusher-protection system at 8 o’clock and clicking on the pusher, the luminescence is activated for a total duration of 30 minutes. It illuminates the:

– 12 hour-markers on the dial.

– Patented luminescent central hour and minute hands and small second hand at 9 o’clock.

– Edge of the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock.

– Dot on the bezel.

– Linear power light reserve indicator on the dial at 6 o’clock, which displays the remaining energy available for additional use of the Power Light function.

The Submersible Elux Lab-ID’s dial features and functions include:

– It features a black dial.

– Central hours and minutes.

– Small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock.

– Power Light function on demand, activated by patented pusher-protection system on the side of the case at 8 o’clock.

– Linear power light reserve indicator on the dial at 6 o’clock.

– Calculation of immersion time via the anti-clockwise rotating bezel featuring a graduated scale.

– Stop-seconds function for precise time setting.

– The 12 hour-markers and hour-hand are coated with green SuperLuminova® X2.

– The minute-hand and dot on the bezel, both featuring a blue accented border, are coated with SuperLuminova® X1.
