Oris introduced the ProPilot Desert Edition during Dubai Watch Week 2025. It is based on the brand’s newly launched ProPilot Date (also a DWW launch). The ProPilot Date is“an aviation-inspired mechanical watch designed for everyday adventures.”

Functions and Operations
Central hours, minutes, and seconds. Date at 6 o’clock. Winding, time-setting, and date via the crown at 3 o’clock.
Dial
Grained ‘sandbeige’ coloured dial “inspired by the colour and texture of the desert.” High-contrast black hands and hour-markers. Tips of the hands are coated with luminescent material.
Case
Multi-piece. Case middle is crafted from lightweight carbon fibre,“produced using an 3D printing technique pioneered in watchmaking by Oris’ engineers.” Crown, bezel, and caseback are made from stainless steel and grey PVD coated. Diameter: 41 mm. Thickness: 11.70 mm (this is the thickness of the ProPilot Date. I am guessing the ProPilot Desert Edition is the same). Lug-to-lug width: 49 mm. Dial side features a sapphire crystal, domed on both sides with anti-reflective coating on the inside. Caseback features a mineral glass. Water resistant up to 10 bar or 100 metres.
The watch comes with a black hybrid textile and rubber strap fitted with “the ProPilot Date’s famous ‘LIFT’ clasp that has now been redesigned to offer greater refinement and step- less adjustment.”
Movement
Powered by Oris Calibre 733-1, an automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, seconds with a stop-seconds function, and instantaneous date. Diameter: 25.60 mm or 11 ½ lignes. Jewels: 26. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 41 hours.
Our Thoughts
Oris had an excellent presence at Dubai Watch Week 2025. In addition to the new ProPilot Date and ProPilot Desert Edition, they also launched the Oris x Ahmed Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Limited Edition and hosted the Oris Café by M’OISHI. We had the opportunity to meet with Rolf Studer, the brand’s Co-CEO, and handle the new watches.
The ProPilot Desert Edition is a thoughtful interpretation of the ProPilot Date and a nod to the UAE, hence the ‘Desert’ in the inspiration and name. Combined with its grained ‘sandbeige’ dial with contrasting details, 3D printed carbon fibre middle case, hybrid strap, other well executed details and its accessible price, the ProPilot Desert Edition promises to be universally popular.
